So far, couch surfing is great. My host is working late so he gave me a key so I could come and go as I like, and he and his roommate are really nice. Trying to decide what to do tomorrow for my full day here on my own!

Cleveland (from my hazy childhood memories) has one of the coolest train/transportation/history museums I've ever been to. It was in an old train station, one the grand ones, and had some amazing dioramas and things.
and now I'm questioning whether it was Cleveland or Toledo.... but I'm about 90% positive it was cleveland
On a related note how far is it safe to drive on the mini spare tires some cars come with?

Generally about 35 miles, at no more than 50 miles per hour. Space-saver spare tyres are shitty things meant to get you no further than the nearest garage.

Errrrgggggg. We've made the executive decision what we only fly direct now. 14 hours to get from Omaha back to NH is ridiculous when SF or Seattle is 7-8 including driving.

America Pics! Strong water theme, chronological order:
West Side over the Central Reservoir, NYC
Flooded Mine in Northern NJ
Needlessly Grand Clouds over the Lincoln Memoral, DC
Cherry Trees in bloom, DC
Billowing Cloud over the Shenandoah Valley, VA
Cascade Falls near Pembroke, VA
Sunny Shores of Lake Erie in Marblehead, OH
Frozen Lake Kinzua in the Pennsylvania Wilds
Selfie with the Delaware Water Gap barely visible in the background, NJ
Bonus Dog, Mum's Garden, England
I got mah [first] piece o' real luggage! It's a fantastic TEAL color and seems really sturdy 'n' nice.
It's actually much bigger than I was expecting it to be, but I guess that's not too crazy considering I usually live out of a messenger bag and a small backpack on most of my trips.
It's 24" high, 16" wide and about 10" deep. I briefly considered getting the 20" high version (which is apparently carry-on size) and comparing the two, but maybe I should just accept the larger luggage as it is probably more appropriate for a 2-week trip. I think I just feel silly if things are too big. I'm a small person and I tend to get smaller items for everything.
You should see the bag I cart around when I head to Australia for any length of time. Don't sweat it. Two weeks is way too long for just a carry on bag. Four days is about my limit for that.
The main thing to think is "if I have to carry/drag this any distance, am I gonna die?" If not then great!

Sounds like Cleveland to me.
That's really cool! Looks like it was a launch for the National Reconnaissance Office. Classified payload, which means it's a spy satellite.
So I'm guessing one of the near death experiences was a blowout. What were the other two?
