Hope you enjoyed the Golden Globes yesterday (and maybe even used it as a warm up) because the MOTHERFUCKING OSCARS ARE COMING!!

The 86th Annual Academy Awards takes place on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Dolby Theater in LA. The event will be broadcast in the US on ABC as it has been since the dawn of time (or 1976, ABC's got the contract for the Oscars til 2020!)

Yay its not Seth McFarlane! Yay Ellen Degeneres is hosting! It is her second time hosting the show, she was host of the 79th edition back in 2007, which I don't remember but was probably great!

These are likely to be your nominees for Best Picture:
So let's see if someone (read: @Bogey) can be the best predictor of Oscars of them all and win the big prize! And what will they win?

@YaYa has pledged:
A blu-ray/DVD (winner's choice) of the Best Picture winner
A five-page script featuring five elements of the winner's choice

@Goose! has pledged:
2 readmission movie passes good for any Regal Cinemas location (but not on RPX, IMAX, 3D, or Special Events) or a gift card for an equivalent if no applicable theater is available.

@UnbreakableVow has pledged:
Any 2013 film on Blu-ray/DVD (winner's choice)

@Balefuego has pledged:
@YaYa's soul

@Sweeney Tom had pledged:
The "Gift of Leo" (one random Leonardo DiCaprio movie)

@Marathon has pledged:
Blu-ray, DVD, or book (winner's choice) of movie from the Best Adapted Screenplay category (also winner's choice)

@Raijin Quickfoot has pledged:
One DVD or blu-ray if the winner's choice ($20 limit)

Yaya and I will play along but won't be claiming any prizes (not that I'm ever any good at pickin' anyhow).

Stay tuned!

The Nominations have been announced and now its time! Click below to enter your ballot into the pool! Only 1 ballot per player. Predictions are due by Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:59:59 PM ET (all entries are timestamped). Good luck!

    So prepared to have not seen any of the movies nominated

    At least last year around this time I'd been working in a movie theater and had even a sense of things

    Totally choosing Gravity for all categories. Even the actor/actress ones.

    Molten variables hiss and roar. On my mind-forge, I hammer them into the greatsword Epistemology. Many are my foes this night.

    Sandra Bullock might be a good call for that one

    everybody pledge prizes

    I want so many prize pledges that every entrant has to give something to the winner

    someone pledge their soul as a prize

    I just saw Her

    If Scarlett gets screwed out of a nomination then

    Well

    That would suck

    I'd still likely give it to Bullock this year though

    According to Derby, ScarJo would be in Supporting Actress, not Actress.

    What in the world

    She's the lead female role

    Her voice gets nearly as much screentime as the film's lead actor

    I think it's her own choice what category to submit for, and obviously she's much more likely to get nominated for supporting

    I can't make a guaranteed pledge but I can make a possible pledge. I don't know how my financial situation will be in a few weeks, money's tight for me right now and has been since New Years for reasons etc. But if I am able to, and if Leonardo DiCaprio wins Best Actor at long fucking last, I will try to send the winner a random (obviously good) film with Leo. The (Possible) Gift of Leo

    McConaughhey and Leto

    it's the studio's choice ultimately IIRC, but otherwise this is true

    note Hailey Steinfeld being nominated as Supporting Actress for True Grit despite being in more of the movie than Jeff Bridges

    I'll get on board and actually try to predict winners this year.

    Also, I'll throw in for the prize bag. @Goose! I'll get the winner either a dvd/blu-ray of their choice or a copy of a book from the "best adapted screenplay" category, also their choice.

    I know Oscar will likely be pulling for Chiwetel Ejiofor (someone please tell me how to pronounce this)

    But man

    I still think Michael B. Jordan would be my personal pick for Best Actor this year

    So you just have to pick the winner of the best picture and not pull a bogey and get greater than 60% right?

    You know, I did like Shakespeare in Love for the most part but that was ridiculous.

    Crash winning is the worst thing that has ever happened.
