Holy shit, an actual update for vanilla Wii! Odd they didn't try to get it running on Wii U.

...though this is Sin and Punishment we're talking about. Asking the intern to load it up to the servers on his lunch break probably ate into most of the game's potential profits. :P

Wait, really? I thought there was no way we were getting that theme because of the Famicom cart design ("them 'Mericans won't understand the goofy smaller cart shapes!")

I find that the top screen wallpaper on 3DS themes just turn into a cluttered mess with all the stuff going on in front of them. You have to specifically leave it on a blank space in your menu to appreciate it.

If the DLC is the same as the Japanese version, there's three sets of DLC. They're bundles instead of buying things individually. Each one includes multiple costumes, hairstyles, accessories, and five or so bonus missions each.

Waistdeep includes chibi versions of characters and an epilogue to the game. Hipster includes a side scrolling SHUMP mission. Burst includes bust side modification for the characters.

Also, Murasame, Ikaruga's older brother, is free DLC if you have a save file from the first game.

With the previous DS version, someone in Japan made a PC editor that would then transfer over to the DS, so you could type it up with context highlighting and everything. But the program was janky as hell outside of Japan, it wasn't made for english OSs, something about extended character set making it crash on copy/paste.

But I used it anyway. Made a couple cool things.

The 3DS one is supposed to be a lot better, lots of limitations reduced or removed (program length, number of variables, length of arrays and such).

I just figured most anime fans would have something else to watch CrunchyRoll on their TV on by now. Are there really that many of them that only have a Wii?

It's pretty cool that they did it. There's a LOT of Wii systems still out in the wild and if someone needs to play Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll on a TV in the house, the Wii does that perfectly fine.

SmileBASIC seems to use the same cloud servers as the Japanese version, if you look up download keys for programs Japanese users have made, they'll work. If you're interested, the Japanese name is "プチコン3号" or "Petitcom 3".

They also kept the speech synthesis in this time, though it's still only Japanese. Amusingly the speech samples say "Sori, Ai an onri supikuingu Japanisu".

Regular wii you mean? because 480 is not perfectly fine at all.

プチコン would be pronounced Puchicon which is a really fun word. Poochy-con!

Man I'm going to have to get this aren't I.

I'm trying to be done with...unproductive programming/design platforms. I want to make a real game in Unity and sell it on Steam, that sort of thing. While making games in stuff like this is fun, you can't sell it, and it's seen by relatively few people. But it's not bad experience to have, unless you're covering ground you already have before (which I probably would, RPG overworlds and platformers and stuff).

But it's still just really cool to be able to make games and programs right on the 3DS...

Earlier I kickstarted the Arduboy which again is really cool but hyper-limited in what you can do with it. Made this little Mega Man scrolling demo with faked greyscale and music, and some other demos. But again I realized there's just no future there, you're basically making stuff for yourself. Which is fine for some people but I'm getting tired of hobby coding with no end goal.
