In other news, the syringe feeding of Bro has been a rousing success after a few worrying attempts. We've found that after the first squirt of food, he realizes "Oh! This tastes good and I'm hungry!" And he'll eat the rest out of your hand instead of us having to force it into his mouth. Thank GOODNESS. I was very worried about him. Now we know that he really just isn't eating because his nose is so stuffed up-- if he can't smell it he doesn't recognize it as edible. So at least there isn't anything worse!
He continues to improve, although a bit slowly. We're keeping an eye on the situation, but I think he's well on the road to recovery now. Thanks for the well wishes, Snugglehug thread.
Moving pillows is a common affliction, I'm afraid. My cat encounters it all the time.
I've wanted a bird for ages, and we're getting one. We got super lucky and a local bird place has a trio of Senegal/Meyers babies! They should be fully weaned in a few weeks and we get to take ours home.
I picked her cuz she's very chill and cuddly.
Don't have a name for her yet. (Going with her, these birds aren't sexually dimorphic at all, so can't really tell unless one lays an egg.)

I'm at my parents' for a couple of nights, coinciding with them dogsitting their friends' Jack Russell. His name is Taz and he is 13 years old. He is very friendly with people, hyperactive as fuck, and really doesn't like other dogs. I'm generally not a fan of Jack Russells, they are one of my least favourite dog breeds, but I can't help but be kind of won over by him because he always has this stupid happy face like he is so delighted by everything.
We walked him up the pub earlier to try and tire him out, but he got overstimulated by all the people and it didn't really work, so then I offered to walk him back by myself while my parents drove (this totally worked and he has been conked out all evening)
I have decided my main ambition in life, behind getting a job in Africa, is to have a dog. I've wanted one for years but I guess I've never felt like I could have one, but fuck it I'm a grown up. Even if all else fails, I want a dog. That is my second most important goal in life now.
