Azureus's "status mailer?"

Hi, guys. So I have this nice rss/automated thing set up with Azureus, and the cherry on top would be to have it notify me via email when it starts and finishes a download.
I've been having a lot of trouble making it work with my gmail account. I've filled out all the forms to the letter.
This is what throws me:

If using SSL you will probably need to copy the "cacerts" file from the Java runtime "lib/security" folder to ".certs" in your Azureus User Data folder in order to trust the mail server's certificate.

I found the cacerts file just fine, but in my azureus folder there is no User Data, nor can I find any mention of ".certs." Am I looking in the wrong place?

Has anyone else gotten this working?

Is there a way to not use SSL? That can be tricky with certificates and such, as you can see.
