Not that I can find! I have looked everywhere, and all I have is a "launch" command.

Edit: I guess a lot of other powers are possibly bugged/not showing up on consoles (set powers, etc) so maybe this is just one of those cases. Really like to be able to pull the damn things back to heal them before I splash dilithium on the elite variant.

Yeah, they had to rush to get a bare minimum to hit that anniversary release deadline? I just wonder when their first major patch is going to drop.

Hopefully soon, I want to mess with doffs/admiralty/crafting. But this feels about like Neverwinter did shortly after release, and they took care of that nicely, so I'm not too concerned.

Edit: Speaking of! Upgrade weekend upcoming, so I assume I will want to upgrade "things I'll use forever", so like +dmg tac consoles, the Romulan Plasma beam banks I've got, and then see how much stuff I've got left after that? I'd do my other beams, but I'll be replacing them with the RPs once I hit T4 in the rep. Anything else I should really think of?

You're certainly right (the unusable PC R&D interface that can be triggered via NPC attests to that), but I choose to generously believe they didn't want to dump STO's infamously oppressive sprawling tree of alternate advancement (there are seriously 53 different progress numbers to make bigger, not even considering that every piece of equipment has two of its own) on a whole new community in its completed state, when PC players have slowly built it up a bit here and a bit there over five years. There's really no reason to exclude the Omega, Nukara, Iconian, or Terran branches from the reputation system, for example.

There's probably that too. There's already a ton of stuff to do ingame. Like... tons.

One of those things that is horrible to do is that stupid space whale escort mission with the tetryon Hunter guys who just wreck my shields. It's the only daily mission that I die on because those procs just eat my shields up. I need to upgrade my weapons too, but it's the only mission that the enemies offensive output makes us fight on an equal playing field. IDK.

Playing on advanced too, I noticed repairs are free at the stations? Though I have to buy the consumable repairs and such.

Hirogen hit like trucks. I'd rather tank a Voth dreadnought while dumping my alpha strike into its aceton drone than do that delta quadrant mission where you fight four of their escorts at once.

  • Options
    tastydonutstastydonuts Registered User regular
Yeah, a few of the pulls on the mission have 3 escorts to fight at once... and it's like

    "Red Alert!"
    *2 seconds later*
"Forward shields gone! Port shields gone!"
    and so forth. :Snap:

They may have made the objective easier in that the space whales don't die. But still.

Ive been doing the dominion questline and I got the Jem'hadar boff, and he fits in with my ragtag band nicely. Also bought a vendor pilot boff now I spaec drIft all the days.

I hate the stupid cluster torpedoes worse. Hirogen hit hard, but spacebrick don't care. Coat my immediate area in mines, though, and I'm going to hit every single damn one, and that sucks I tell you what, 'cause there is no "get out of the way" in my tactical arsenal.

I think it's 3x hourly per day for rep. I spam them, at least for Romulan, because daddy needs more beam arrays and I'm not at t4 yet.

Upgrade weekend so far: 5x mkXIV +plasma tac consoles, 2x mk14 RP beam arrays, and I decided mkXIII was enough for the RCS.

Edit: Also, what's worse than a ship with cluster torpedoes? TWO ships with cluster torpedoes, spamming you while little ships drag you backwards through the entire minefield. 2% hull! 2!

I don't know what to upgrade so I haven't done much of it.

I've been using a blue mk vii RCS that I can try to upgrade, so I'll do that today I guess.

Well, I did the consoles because I have a full rack of plasma beams, so that'll always be useful. The weapons... Taking a beam array from mk12 to mk14 almost doubled the damage numbers. The only reason I'm waffling on doing all of them is that the mods on the ones I have aren't amazing, and at t4 Romulan you can just buy mk12 arrays from a selection.

There's a thing coming out, 20 pack of keys that comes with a single-use "max this item's upgrade for free" widget, so I may end up buying that for like, my Solanae shields or something. (Same price as 20 keys normally.)

wonder when. probably sooner as it's a paid thing?

I got a bargin Reman engy boff for ground combat and her default appearance is brawler and she's wearing a tanktop. But when I go to change that because she needs bandoleers it goes away. Kind of like the reman loincloth thing one of the default rom boffs gets. Is there a set those come in or is just just bugged?

They might hold off on it for consoles. They've been throwing sales at console kind of rapid-fire, they'll probably hold the really awesome deals for when the whales have already beefed themselves up with the all the basics.

So, now, the in-character version of what happens when this goes live is as follows:

    1. Our characters find a 23rd Century space station floating in the middle of nowhere where it shouldn't be.
    2. Our characters learn it's the graveyard of a horrific tragedy from 140 years ago.
    3. Our characters proceed to trick it the fuck out and turn it into a space hangout.

I'm... suddenly a lot less enthusiastic about this holding.

Well if you think about it, there's another Fleet Holding that could be considered the same thing.
After all, once the subspace aliens screwed themselves over, who knows how many of them died in the Dyson Sphere Tower holding (and in the Sphere in general) before they made it to subspace.

But hey, a tower with a view we can open and close on command. Can't beat that!

What ships have secondary deflectors. Like... what are their names. I can only find the rules saying which ships would have them, but not what they are. I'm not about to look up the product description for all the science ships or/we and how do I know which ships are "science" ships anyway?

Most Fed science vessels near as I can tell. Warbirds may have a slight science focus, but I've never seen one quite like a proper "science vessel".

You're looking at a "pure" science vessel for a secondary deflector, which basically means both a Commander-Rank Science BOFF seat and Sensor Analysis. Which basically limits them to fed science ships. Some of the event ships have been "science" enough, but for off the rack the only cross faction ones are http://sto.gamepedia.com/Eternal_Temporal_Multi-Mission_Science_Vessel or one of the Dyson Science destroyers.

I completed the other T6 ship that I had and now I have no other ships to master, just went back to flying the Malem again. Kind of limitedi How I missed rushing enemies and draining them and emptying the cannons and torpedoes into hulls. Been running a mixture of Disruptors and Romulan Plasma weapons for the -resistance and stuff.

And as a Rom I can't take Eyes (my vulcan fed sci healer) or my Jem-Hadar muscle onto Kobali/battlegrounds and stuff? Kind of sucks, so I'll have to find a new tact officer. As science I can do the healing and give them hypos, so that's NBD, and I've been using the Reman engy whose default top is tank top and she's worked out nicely. Turret engy was weird. By the time all the turrets get placed everything is dead.

The enemies on Kobali Prime love to gather in tight groups. I can only assume it's because they are cold, but they run away from my fires. :(

Ground Turrets are weapons from a more civilised age. With my engy captain I would rock up to a ground mission with an all engineer + token-the-healer team and just drop turrets and mines everywhere, all the time.

Ground missions sucked real bad. I would still hesitate to call them good, but matters have progressed.

Dunno how they were before, but I like them. Definitely could do with some fine tuning in the AI commands department though.

My five is now Sci (Me) Sci (Heal) Tactx2 (GRENADES) Engy (Tried turrets, now have one that does mines and mortars)

As the tanktop engy uses mines, I have to get everyone to pull back in order for the AI to rush into them. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. Mines wreck spiders though, so there's that at least.

I'm going to make the new tact boff use overwatch a bit and see how that goes.

Yeah, mines aren't that great. You either spend your time micro managing the engy to move forward and drop the mines, or you spend your time hoping the rest of the away team stays back near the mines on the off chance the enemy will run into them. It can be nice to drop a field of them before you click on the shiny thing that's almost guaranteed to generate an ambush though, so they've got that going for them.
I'm tempted, on occasion, to try a mine heavy loadout. Just 3 or 4 engineers with as many mine field powers as I can train them on. I doubt it'd be effective, but considering how much everything in the game loves running into melee it might be entertaining.

Mortars I remember being fairly weak as well. They take too long between firing and impact to be useful unless the enemies are obliging you by standing very still. But, I tend to take that off in favor of a turret, so I haven't used it in a while.

My combat style revolves around "shitting as many deployables onto the battlefield as possible" then doing a proper graveyard zerg after the inevitable instant deaths from melee. (HELLO BIG VAADWAUR ASSHOLES I AM LOOKING AT YOU.)

It's not that great, but I've also got 4 miniguns in the party, so eventually sheer volume of fire does the trick, even if nobody can aim worth a shit.

Speaking of, what the heck might the Voth thing be that just sort of makes all your hull go splat? Combat log isn't really a help, so far the times it's happened all that's there is me shield healing the hell out of myself via console proc, as I blow up with them at full. ("Oh, I see I exploded due to 40k worth of shield heals, I see, yes, this is indeed "significant".")

stopping the or two guys the AI likes to get to rush your line to flank is the one thing the mines consistently do when I'm not forcing pull backs into choke points and all.

Pressing up on the d-pad then RT gets them all to go to a spot, targeting a boff then pressing up directs one, right on the d-pad orders them to attack your target (I guess if you're really into microing you could use that on a single boff?) and down regroups. I imagine those are the same commands used for pets in space too?

I'm very curious to see how the KDF justifies helping the Kobali when I roll that character.

So, Mirror Invasion next month for the consoles... Will we hate this? And speaking of mirror, the Mirror Warbirds are like, 100-150k on the exchange. I'm tempted, and I don't even really want one...

Mirror invasion is a pretty easy mission, do it for 14 days (event's generally 21) and get whatever the reward is.

Are you sure it's Mirror Invasion? News site says Crystalline Catastrophe, which is slightly harder, since each of the three phases has a random environmental issue added on, but it's still a facerollingly easy mission. Worst case, you lose the optionals for having x% of people survive each shockwave, everything else it's just a matter of shooting enough pewpew into the thing.

True, IDK then. I don't use carriers. :P

I played briefly this morning to tick off some rep things (making it 40 days of running no matter what to max rep is kind of annoying) and dabbled around with the Overwatch boff on Kobali Prime. It's... okay, I guess. Just need to remember to push with her or plant her in place if we're not just running and gunning.

Ground Vaadwaur just seem to melt so quickly. Are you not setting them on fire, DP? Or maybe I haven't run into the big guys yet? There's one that has a wavy gun that gets to be obnoxious if I down see and drop them quick enough. Will have to push deeper into Kobali later. I think getting first strikes on them by setting them ablaze is the major difference.

I wonder if we're getting Task Force Omega or Nukara stuff on console. Would be weird to not get them. Really just want that boff. I also like how varied the proportions tend to be for boffs.

I also realized the reason why my Tank Top Reman Engy has on a Tank Top in Spaec is because all of her entire upper torso settings are set to "none." I can't change any of her outfit settings or else she will lose her defining characteristic. One of my other Boffs had a "none" in her attire, but it put square holes in her chest where the underclothing would normally go. Random... is random.

As for the Mirror Warbirds... if you're talking about the Mirror Universe Ha'feh Assault Warbird, it is okay. If you do open a box and get the T6 prizebox, don't open it because it will give you a t5 ship instead, they're working on fixing that though (I mentioned this before). Lockbox keys have settled into a price of 1 key for 1m EC, which sucks.

The crystal event seems like you just do an instance for a participation point once per day (you need 14) to get the event prize. and there's lots of marks to be earned. IDK what other stuff you can get.

Also, kind of feel like Crytic is hobbling their porting effort by rebuilding their menus for controller input when they should just fullscreen and/or switch to a mouse cursor type configuration. Having to manually scroll up in the AH, getting dumped into random spots on the Boff customization menu, getting stuck with an empty vendor tab if I had used another vendor with a sale option are all minor nuisances that seem to be easily avoidable.

Just give me a "page up" or "jump to top/bottom" on the long lists and I'd be happy.

A good example of that type of hybrid UI being Destiny.
