Also my playtime is probably inflated by the amount of time I have spent hiding in vents.
Totally safe.
I am currently sneaking through vents by flicking my light on and off to save battery power
One of these days I'll flick it on and the alien will be right up in my face

Finally completed it. I think that took me about two hours.
Far and away the least fun I've had playing this game. I can see it being enjoyable with a good squad but I was woefully underpowered and it was just frustrating as hell. And I knew what the mission was! I can imagine if you play that for the first time not knowing what to expect it could drive you crazy. You don't get any warning that it's anything but a regular mission.

I saw that mission before the expansion came out, and was thinking that it was going to be like, a thing with Enemy Within. Just a bunch of much more involved and interesting missions

I really enjoyed that mission.
I had my scout sprinting through the interior of the ship at top speed, while my snipers were picking off any chrysalids that made it above decks. Then the heavies covered everyone on the way back. Lots of fun with the zipline suit as well.
I should really do another playthrough of EW and not pick the camo gene mod, since that made the latter half of the game absolutely braindead.

I had one non-squadsight sniper, one heavy, one Lt. assault and two Sq. assaults.
If I'd taken Inquisitor it probably would have been a walk in the park but Hullis was still a baby sniper and could barely hit shit. He was using his laser pistol most of the time.
In my last several XCOM runs for one reason or another I was just not capable of doing the Newfoundland mission when it came up. Either too many of my soldiers were injured/having their limbs sawed off/dealing with another mission to deal with it
I consider it a blessing
Next to actual sentient aliens doing covert alien works, letting a small fishing village be devoured by space bugs is fine to me.

The dumb thing is why do you even need to activate that transponder. The Skyranger is parked right there the whole time, how can they not identify the location?

I wish steam would hurry up and become the monopoly he describes!
I run into games that aren't install-able via steam on occasion and my brain just shuts down now. I swear I used to know how to install games without steam.

I haven't looked for a pc game anywhere but steam in forever
I guess ME3?? And my next non steam game will be DA:I so I guess I have steam and then my Bioware Content Service
Man, this might actually get me to get back into Dark Souls.
It should give co-op and PvP a heck of a shot in the arm for at least a little while. Steamworks for DS2 has been way, WAY more reliable for me than summoning was in DS1.

You get the odd one in Humble Bundles, and the steam clones some companies are doing even tho they only make/sell 3-4 games.
Paranautical Activity was the game that was put on Greenlight but later secured a publisher only to be told that Steam didn't want people thinking they could use a publisher as a way to get around going through Steam Greenlight. Which was bizarre and nonsensical.
Edit- Oh, and that also caused it to lose the publisher.

It isn't really a monopoly for the end user
But it is if you want to sell your game on the PC
And giving how generally fucked steam's ecosystem for releasing games is (thought admittedly they are trying to get better) this isn't a good thing unless you're a AAA developer or happen to get a lot of press

PA was the game that really started the whole public awareness about how fucking flawed greenlight is and valve has done some questionable shit to the guy

On one hand, yes, Valve has dicked this guy over on at least like three separate occasions.
But it's incredibly satisfying to see someone get a boot in his ass for telling twitter he was going to kill someone.

basically it is a tragedy about a guy who struggled to make a game got screwed over by what is effectively a monopoly, then after nearly a year catches a break and then gets screwed over again
and then just snaps and does a really dumb thing and now I'm kinda worried about him hurting himself

But yeah death threats are super horrible and I totally understand and support taking a zero tolerance thing to them.
But I can just imagine the desperation something like that would cause. Something you have devoted so much of your life to constantly getting screwed over. It's your job. It is your livelihood. And it is fairly directly being fucked with by what seems to you to be a broken system.
Yeah, that would be enough to break the shit out of me

Raving about how incompetent Valve is about running their monopoly? Absolutely, do that, you are totally allowed to be angry when you have been fucked over.
No matter how angry you are don't issue death threats. You don't get to say you're going to kill someone because you're angry. Full stop. End of story.
Don't normalize and rationalize that kind of behavior.

Can anyone who has been following the game tell me what multiplayer modes Beyond Earth is going to have? As much as I am loving Endless Legend I am really bummed at the lack of any kind of hot seat mode or asynchronous play, either feature would be really nice to get a 4X game going against my brother.
twitter is like alcohol, mix it with emotions and you've got a recipe for a ruined life

Not only that but it's counterproductive. It's not going to resolve anything. There's no way issuing a death threat results in anything other than more problems.

Hooray!
When Arkham City did that I had to use a 3rd party patching tool to restore my old save file.
It had a keygen style interface and chiptune background music.
An indie game, created by what appears to be a single guy, called Paranautical Activity was meant to leave Early Access today
The patch went live bringing it to the final version, but the Store was slow to remove the Early Access tags
In response, the developer went on rants on Twitter about how incompetent Valve is and how he was going to murder Gabe Newell
So Valve has pulled the game off of the store entirely and banned the developer's admin account
