I rolled up on a bad mother with two hardened spears in hand, he shot me in the shoulder, I was stunned, then I hit him with a flurry attack, and knocked him out. I looted him, then finished him off so I could take his pants and use his scope to fashion an eyepiece to compensate for my myopia.

Then I get stuck on the first boss because he soaks all my fully loaded guns/grenades/gas tanks laid out specifically to stun him. Not to mention he has an infinite amount of spawning enemies helping him out. At least I was having a little fun until this fight.

"He has a chainsaw arm that can kill you in one hit..."

Mhm mhm game design. It's weird when you see people make an incredible game like RE4 and then their other titles make it look like a fluke. The Hitman series feels like this, too.

(RE4 of course also had chainsaws that could instakill you, but those dudes were way more manageable than that thing in the video.)

I'd say no. There's only one story DLC (Cold, Cold Heart) and it's not particularly interesting. It sections off the map to about one half of what it is normally, doesn't give you much to do in said map, and the one boss battle included is the poor man's version of a fight done better in City. Some of the areas look neat covered in ice and Batman gets a cool suit (hur hur puns) but I can't really recommend it.

The other "story" DLC (Initiation) is really just a grouping of challenge maps with brief intro pieces. Those maps are pretty neat, honestly, but the DLC does a poor job of presenting its content. If you like Challenge Maps give it a go. Otherwise, pass.

The other Season Pass items are skins. Most of them... aren't great.

So I wake up and there's 5 more pages on the Steam thread, and then a new Steam thread.

You people are going to be the death of me; it's getting to the point where I wake up earlier to just get caught up with the reading.

Anyway. It looks like Wasteland 2 is out for reals. Time to fire 'er up and see how many bugs I come across. And I ain't talking about the giant irradiated scorpions.

I just want to see a fucking comment, is that too much to ask?
I started my RE:velations playthrough tonight, and the game is surprisingly bad. It's not even at RE5 standards. It's clunky with it's dodge mechanic and (sometimes) melee attacks, the writing is just laughable, 2-3 hours in and I still have no idea what's going on in the story. Then I get stuck on the first boss because he soaks all my fully loaded guns/grenades/gas tanks laid out specifically to stun him. Not to mention he has an infinite amount of spawning enemies helping him out. At least I was having a little fun until this fight.

The RE:velations 2 trailers look great and I had high hopes because revelations was supposed to be "good" ...but man, where did my favorite survival horror puzzle series go?

For the extra curious here's a video of it, it's just a giant mess where you're soaking all of your hard earned ammo into one fight. This guy even gets lucky and kills him with his last bullets:
    :rage: CAPCOMM!

There's a boss like that in RE4, when you're on New game plus, you can just buy the rocket launcher kill him in one hit.

I also read that there's a sniper rifle that I missed before this fight which helps out a lot, but really the way the game was going I'm not even sure if it's worth diving back into it.
A lot of people (Myself included) actually find revelations to be better than 5 or 6. I'll admit the dodging mechanic is a bit wonky (Probably better on a controller, which I won't use because it's a shooty game) But in regards to story...when HASN'T a resident evil story been awful?

So I've been completely immersed in DCS World the last few days since I got Flaming Cliffs 3. I've been doing ground school and reading up on the planes themselves to get generally familiar with their roles and capabilities. It's an aspect of simming that I really love. The study creates a kind of intimacy with the game that you just aren't going to achieve in lighter games. That first time you successfully use ECW to counter enemy radar, or you master those tricky Russian avionics is a feeling that's hard to match in other games.

But other times I just want to fire missiles like crazy and blow shit up in a stylish manner. Vector Thrust looks ideal for this, and thanks to @Viking I now have a copy of my very own. Thanks a lot dude! JETS FOR THE JET THRONE!

Edit, and CC:GM keeps crashing after I commit several high risk airdrops from VTOLs in the middle of a snowstorm while staying in telemetry range of my carrier.

I've finally encountered an enemy carrier and chased them into the sea. Game could have been better with more ships to round out my battlegroup and theirs, with enemy captains cursing me with their last breath......

Are there any good naval games where I lead my battlegroup and the enemy curses me over the radio with their last breath? Anime like or like THE LAST SHIP

@Jazz‌ how far into the campaign am I when I take fulcrum?

I think maybe halfway. At least as far as working through the archipelago. The problem now is you've got the enemy carrier striking at your islands so you've got to go on both the offensive and the defensive.

Honestly I didn't get much past that point in the 360 version.

You're dead right about the FPS section on Fulcrum, though. It's so much better, primarily because it's so much more open.
Game could have been better with more ships to round out my battlegroup and theirs, with enemy captains cursing me with their last breath......

As good as that sounds, it wouldn't be Carrier Command. It would be too far out of the realms of the original game.
I mean, at that point you might as well make it part FPS... oh, wait.

So for those on the fence about Final Fantasy XIV because it's an MMO... you shouldn't be. It's actually quite fun, and you don't even need to fork over your credit card. You can buy gametime cards (or Crysta), so you can play as often (or as little) as you want. Plus, you buy the month you're about to play in, instead of the month you just played, so there's never a bill hanging over your head. If you don't have the money (or decide to stop playing) for a month, your account just switches to "inactive" until you decide to come back. And having an 'inactive' account means you can still play whenever Square Enix has a free login (usually once every couple of months). The game is, outside of dungeons, almost entirely single-player too. And heck, a good chunk of the dungeons are optional, so you don't even have to run those if you don't feel like it.

    So... go play it.

I picked up FFXIV a ways back when it was having a good sale at Amazon. I played for the free month then stopped.

Why you may ask? Because I felt the gaping maw opening beneath my feet. The game struck so many of the FF/JRPG buttons for me, I knew that if I didn't stop cold turkey, it's all I'd wind up playing.

The visual aesthetic is fantastic. Gameplay is a well balanced combo of timed button pushing and character movement. Crafting is a deep dark cavern with a siren lurking at the bottom who's call I can still feel in my bones.

Folks who have played it longer might have different opinions. My main char didn't make it to that high of a level, and I played before housing and a bunch of other stuff got put in.

I could have nostalgia goggles on, but it seemed like RE5 moved at a quicker pace. My co-op partner and I just finished Chapter 2 of Leon's campaign (the first one we're doing) and it just sort of seems to drag on.

I took a character all the way to 50, and completed the story, so I'm kind of "done" now, but up until that point... man....

Reposting for the new thread. Ends Saturday evening.

Who likes visual novels? Maybe you...Or you? We've got visual novels here! Come on and try one!

What's that? You want some free visual novel things that you can play, for free?

Digital - A Love Story - A computer mystery/romance set five minutes into the future of 1988.
Juniper's Knot - Juniper’s Knot is a story told from dual perspectives: that of a demon and a boy. It begins on an autumn morning in a silent town.
Save the Date - It’s a perfectly normal evening, and you have a quiet dinner planned with one of your friends.

More? Well, I plan on giving away at least one copy of Higurashi When They Cry (greenlit, coming to Steam...eventually) and Clannad (no release date yet) when they're available. Probably more as well. Stay tuned.

Cross post from Tech Thread - I'm selling 2 GTX 670s to make room for my new 970. If any PA'ers want a good deal I can certainly undercut what I'd be willing to take on eBay. Shoot me a PM if you want one of these bad boys.

Ah, I have time to let them fix it. I get to go apple picking today, anyways- and that means getting to snack on pieces of locally-grown honeycrisp apples and cheddar cheese slices while I gift play through some more games, and nice warm cider to sip while I work on AD&D: Shadows Over Mystara tonight.

Did I mention the homemade pie that is likely to result as well?

Outland is hitting Steam at the end of the month. Another one of the few console smaller games comes over. Just need Shadow Complex now.

We're doing that this weekend. Tonight I'm celebrating "put pumpkin in goddamn near everything" season while playing Hawken. Got some Pumpkinhead Ale and Pumpkin Woodchuck cider ready for the evening.

On Hawken - do folks generally go keyboard/mouse or is it playable with a 360 controller?

Apple picking next weekend for me (and pumpkins too).

This is the best time of year. The best.

It is not the best time of year until I can stop needing a fan pointed straight at my bed to prevent waking up in a literal puddle of sweat.
