I know we're not talking about backlogs right now but...
I can't even say I have a backlog anymore. What I have is way too many games that I have amassed and continue to amass, most of which I will never even play.
I mean it's kind if silly for me to discuss a backlog when I preordered the original Baldur's Gate (yep, with the gold-backed discs) and still haven't played past Chapter 2. I guess that's on my backlog. I mean I would like to play it. I have the Enhanced Edition of BG1 and BG2 and I like the idea of Baldur's Gate.
But who knows?
I stopped thinking about my game library as a backlog and more like a treasure room that I can randomly grab shit from when I'm bored. There's no way I'll ever get through my backlog because everything I buy I fully intend to play some day even if it is unrealistic. I mean, if I live to 150 and never buy another game I may not be able to finish all the stuff I currently own.
I don't even know what it means to finish a game anymore, either. But that's another story.
I hate the idea of the backlog. Gaming is a hobby, not an obligation. Owning a game does not mean you must play it. I have recently taken to only buying games when I intend to play them immediately (unless I am trying to support a developer). It really helps to eliminate the "backlog" issue, and I think it saves money vs buying games on sale and never playing then.

I also finish more mobile games than xbox games because I have full ownership of the device and I don't need to juggle around Summer's schedule with the TV.
AssCreed Unity is going to be a test of the relationship, because you bet your ass I am beating that game to 100% on the 75" set, and doing so in a reasonable amount of time.
I still have yet to get pumped up by Unity. Did they reveal/tease the main character yet? I wasn't impressed with initial trailers at all, and it's one of my favorite series.
As for mobile gaming, yes I agree - though for me it's mostly on my Vita. Haven't touched my 3DS in weeks. I use my iPhone a lot but I'm usually browsing/reading/messaging/netflix so I'm barely ever gaming on if.
Yeah... there has been lots of stuff.
It looks like glyphs / "the truth" is coming back.
The crowds look hella sweet.
The 4 player co op seems to seamlessly show up and go away as needed.
Napoleon's facial mocap is impressive.
Everyone has a British accent when speaking french that is being translated for us into english because LOL animus / American tastes re: foreign speaking peoples.
They had an artist spend two years making a 100% perfect recreation of Notre Dame with the exception of a couple stained glass panels that are copywritten still (you think AMERICA has long copyright laws?)
There have been 5 minutes of gameplay leaked, and a couple cinematics... I'm hype.
That would be a cool job. Totally immerse yourself in Notre Dame and build this perfect digital replica of it piece by piece. I can't even imagine how well this person must know Notre Dame's architecture inside and out.

You hit a point fairly early in AC4 where you:
1) get your own town that you can spend money on and upgrade to your heart's content. These upgrades are not only cosmetic: they provide various benefits to your ship and crew.
2) get your own ship that you can spend money and resources on to upgrade and make more badass. There are also a bunch of cosmetic upgrades that let you pick your sails, flag, prow, etc.
3) there are sea chanties scattered throughout the world. as you collect them your crew learns new songs. As you sail the high seas, they bust out into song. It's much more badass than you think.
4) You get money and resources from attacking merchant vessels. Many of these vessels have alliances to different countries and may be aided by nearby vessels with similar alliances. After you blow up a ship enough, you can choose to either sink it and get some resources, or board it and get all of the resources / add the ship to your fleet. Boarding takes all of the best parts of assassin gameplay and puts it in a tight, claustrophobic space where you can murderkill tons of people in tandem, climb the masts and rain death from above, etc.
5) you can use your fleet in minigames that run in the background which give you more money and resources. You can also check up on this minigame from your phone when you are not playing.
It's a pretty great pirate simulator. I am honestly surprised they haven't broken it out yet and made a standalone pirate game.

@narwhal - I've been trying to get a new doctor but it's been a pain in the ass. I went to a different pain clinic yesterday and saw the nurse practitioner b/c the doctor was out. She seemed really nice and that she could help me and increase my dosage but she said she isnt sure if the doctor will take me as a patient since my other doctor (who isnt helping) is a pain specialist and she said her office doesnt usually take other pain specialist's patients. But she said she would talk to the doctor when he is back from vacation and see if he would.
I told her I dont want to see my other doctor anymore anyway, he said he couldnt do anything to help me which is bull, I know what other treatment options are out there.
So I'm hoping I can get in with this new doctor and actually get some help. Lud was already a patient here and they've been good with him so I'm really hoping they'll take me. They have an aquatic physical therapy program in the same office and I'm thinking about giving that a shot as well because its great for spine patients.
All I know is that I've got to do something, I am literally in bed most of the time. I dont even go out for dinner and shopping after work on fridays anymore and we used to always do that. The only time I get out is when we're on vacation and I have to load up on meds for that and hope I don't have a bad pain flareup before the trip is over - of course then when I get home I ALWAYS get a flareup from the increased activity and wind up calling in after I've already been gone on vacation. I'm sure my bosses love that.

Chronic pain is an awful thing and I hate how many stories I've heard from people about how hard it is to get a management strategy in place for it (whether it be medications, treatment, surgery, or some combination)
Meanwhile my morning frustration is that a website that wants me to enter my date of birth in a specific format is telling me the date is formatted incorrectly no matter HOW creative I get with how a date could possibly be formatted :rotate:

It's p nice. 1080p because 4K even at that size from my couch offers no real advantage and there is no content for it. Also, passive instead of active 3D, but active 3D despite offering slightly better image performance is also a lot more janky and the glasses require batteries. I prefer for the 2-3 times a year that I use the feature to not have to worry about batteries being dead.
The picture is bright and beautiful and I had a pro wall mount it and snake the wires through the wall to my floating entertainment cabinet.
