Were the Imperial forces' marksmanship somehow even worse this episode? The rebels were seemingly having a casual chat about what to do on their neat mount creatures out in the open while blaster fire whizzed by like background noise. What the hell were the walkers aiming at?

    aim???

Why couldn't the scout bikes go faster than the walker or transport? Let alone the legged animals.
Why did they fire a rocket at the rocks to block them for 10s, rather than just blowing up the walker.
Why did the scout trooper try to take out all of the rebels/their spaceship by himself.

Yeah, it wasn't a particularly enthralling episode outside of the thrall stuff.

At least they commented on the Scout Trooper.
"You really didn't think this through, did you?" was probably the best line of the episode.
And how else was Ezra going to get his disguise?

As for the scout bike speed, presumably because they were escorting the transport, and getting too far ahead from the heavily armored transport would leave it vulnerable to ambush, or leave the bikes more vulnerable to ambush.
Or maybe they've just been poorly maintained. I mean, the imperial leadership couldn't manage to wipe out the rebellion and they were riding around on livestock. Losing track of maintenance schedules doesn't seem like it'd be beyond belief.

For the rocket, maybe the rebels thought that blocking the entire path for a short period of time was preferable to taking out a single walker but leaving the rest of the pursuit party a clear path. Or, maybe they were just huge fans of Mulan and thought it would work out okay for them as well.

Yeah, I did like that line. He could have just already had the outfit, I swore he already had a scout helmet anyway.

Eh, the walker was still with the transport. That would have been plenty of protection. :P

The rest of the pursuit party was like, 2 scout troopers though, wasn't it?

Well, the scout trooper panicked. When admitted he didnt think it out.

As for the rest, it comes with the territory. I mean, this was a good day for the stormtroopers! They got bewten by people with blasters, not teddy bears with stones and sticks.

I'll keep watching the show because of the inclusion of EU/Legends stuff, but for me it peaked with the Season 2 premier and has been on a downswing ever since. There's waaay too much filler, 75% of the episodes are setup for the one interesting thing that happens.

    Also S3 premier spoilers
Setting up then discarding the "fall of Ezra" plot line in the span of 42 minutes is immensely disappointing.

I've never read the Zahn novels but I'm absolutely in love with how Thrawn is portrayed in Hera's Heroes. He's effing scary.

    New Episode
-I'm a sucker for two enemies working together against a common foe stories
-I liked the new cannon fodder wiping out the old
-Will their new Phantom dock in the old spot without modifications?
-Droid generals have no artwork to study (unless you count their war as art)

I like that there seems to be a focus on actually building a rebellion this season. Speaking of which, whatever happened to Ezra's Imperial recruit buddy? Did he die? Defect? I can't remember if there was actually any closure to his story.

That.... is a good question, maybe they are like the personal shields from Dune. "The slow blade penetrates the shield."

That's pretty much the Empire as a whole (minus the incompetence), innit?

Thrawn ended up having a whole army of high-end political shit--military tradition, stereotypes of xenophobia, courtier politics, false flags and high-end political dealings with the Emperor--by the end of the five books penned by Zahn, that ended being a pretty good explanation to personality and worldview (I'd argue).

Presumably none of that stuff will make it into Rebels, or necessarily into the new book (at the very least, circumstances almost guarantee his background will be very, very different). And of course, there's a practical way to portray a mysterious big bad in a TV series.

EDIT: And that's excluding the numerous stuff from other authors, like collaboration with Stackpole where he goofs around impersonating a bounty hunter. Which honestly kind of sounds like something you might get in Rebels .

I'm thinking they're similar to Space Bombs from the TIE Fighter video game. Big, slow, dumbfire things that absolutely wreck capital ships. Useless for anything moving faster than a brisk walk.

Given that the TIE pilots were unable to shoot down the ordnance targeting their captial ship, none of them are Secret Order material.

Yes, though I'm pretty sure space bombs didn't bypass shields either. They just tore the hell out of them.

Not that it matters, in TIE Fighter there was only one kind of shield that absorbed everything, laser bolts, torpedoes, suicidal players tired of life.

I figured it was just a combination of being big, heavy, and relatively fast moving that gave them enough kinetic energy to deal some damage against a small ship.
I mean, I would think that a cargo container that's built to survive exiting an atmospher, reentry, hyperspace travel and exposure to vacuum while attached to the outside of a ship's hull without damaging the contents has got to be a pretty durable piece of hardware. Especially if it's intended to be used regularly for a long period of time.

I assumed they were packed with explosives given the size of the explosions.

I'm an episode late but I thought Fenn Rau voice sounded familiar. He's Lucius Vorenus.

And his enemy that episode, the head Mandolorian, is Titus Pullo.

They really need to learn that you argue about how to split the loot after you get away with it.

Yes, unless it's just decoy bait to lure out the Rebel fleet...

It's nice to see that this show is continuing Clone Wars trend of being surprisingly dark considering its a cartoon and the network it is on.
Watching the rebel guy having to get the speeder up to full speed knowing it would blow up, and then watching Thrawn override it when he tried to shut it down. It was really intense, and made more of an impact than watching it happen to random storm troopers 88 and 89.

    Okay, mentioning the
    TIE Defender
made me go buy the last few episodes off of Amazon instead of waiting to watch them for free over Christmas at my parents' place.

Worth it. Thrawn is so good. I can just see the web he's weaving around the Rebel crew.

Also this show is doing a yeoman's service getting the good stuff from the video games into canon.
