Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Even though they're not saying anything about unveiling a new game (yet), it's pretty obvious at this point that August 3rd is when we'll finally get the skinny on Starcraft 2/Diablo 3/Whatever.
There's no way I'm going to California for this, but still... *grabs chair and popcorn*
(mods, please lock if there's another thread for this, I didn't see one)
EDIT: I won't fucking change the number of days everyday, dammit.

If it's a new RTS they would seriously need to impress me with it to get me to notice it. On one hand we have Relic trying new stuff on tactical level RTS games and making awesome games. On the other there's Supreme Commander pushing for huge fights and automatization. Blizzard has been out of it for a while, so it better be a big bang.
Then again, the next Diablo maybe? That would be great... at least to compare it to Hellgate: London and decide. Though chances are the next game won't come out for like 3 years.
Although, if they made it as good as it deserves to/could be (ie combining elements of a persistant world with GTA 3s freedom in a Diablo setting with a bazillion items and free online muliplay on BattleNet) it might hurt sales of wow. So it will never happen.
Instead we will get Starcraft 2, which will be fun but will have the exact same command and control problems that all RTS games have and bring nothing fantastically exciting to the table.
We've already known Starcraft 2 has been in development for a long while, so it's no surprise.
Have we?
All the signs have been kinda subtle, but yeah when adding everything up it's been kinda obvious. They'd said Starcraft: Ghost was meant to be the story bridging between Starcraft 1 and 2, they were hiring for Sci-fi RTS positions (quite a few if I recall), had the Korean event just recently for top starcraft players where they were showing something confidential, and a bunch of other things I can't remember offhand. Also, the namedropping by Blizzard reps in recent months of the name Starcraft 2 when they'd been tight lipped and refused to acknowledge or even refer to it before this year.
To add to what Houk said, yeah, there's some other...things...that help paint the picture too.

We can always hope it's a non-WoW related announcement as their big hat trick this year. I mean, I'm addicted as all hell to WoW, but I really wish they'd do something with Starcraft and/or Diablo. And hopefully not MMO's of either.

Considering the original SC is considered by many to be a "perfect" RTS, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Blizzard ends up going the C&C3 route - i.e. taking everything that made SC1 great, making it pretty, and adding a few modern streamlines/tweaks. Perhaps up the faction count to 4, etc. Given their focus on story with their previous games, I don't think they would get much of a backlash if what we ended up with was just a bigger, prettier game with a good story that continues the great lore established in the first game.
One of the leading Korean websites on Starcraft news, FighterForum, already posted that Starcraft II is in development, but Blizzard has also been hinting pretty heavily at Diablo III over the past few years. If they don't announce anything at E3 or PAX, they'll do it at BlizzCon, so I guess we'll hear something this year either way.
Starcraft 2 would be godsend. I don't care if it's just a prettier version of Starcraft 1. I'd welcome new elements and such, but I would be perfectly happy with the good old formula. I mean.. how could they honestly improve?
What if they were releasing both around the same time? Businesses would all shut down from people playing hooky and all of Korea would explode at once.
They're going to announce the Legacy Collection. WarCraft: Legacy will feature the single player games from WarCraft I, II and it's expansion, completely redone using a modified WarCraft III engine. It will primarily feature two factions, Orcs and Humans, though they will change slightly between the two campaigns set for each. It will retail for $20.
StarCraft: Legacy will be a remake of StarCraft and Brood War using a new engine and more robust Battle.net features. It will also offer a new 20 mission campaign entitled "Ghosts of Korhal," which will feature the storyline from the now defunct StarCraft: Ghost. It will retail for $30.
Diablo II: Legacy of Blood will be both an enhancement and expansion to the 7 year old game. It will feature an enhanced graphics engine (though the game will still be sprite based with a 2D isometric view) that supports a much higher resolution. It will add an entirely new act to the game, as well as two new character classes, new items, new quests for the existing five acts, and more PvP options. The game will also feature a remake of the original Diablo, which features 20 floors of randomly generated dungeon crawling. The original Diablo II and Lord of Destruction content will be included, and it will retail for $50.
Koreans are gunna be there = Starcraft 2.
Otherwise, it's some other MMO (wasn't this confirmed a while ago?).

Oh dear god, no. That better not happen. I don't want frigging remakes. This isn't PSP territory.
Uh, yeah, my point was that the "Stay tuned for more announcements concerning Blizzcon events" thing was a dead giveaway that screams "OUR NEXT GAME WILL BE UNVEILED, BITCHES".
Watch the second WoW exp being announced at E3 and Starcraft 2 at Blizzcon.
I wish.

While this would be acceptable, it's disappointing. Also, link your source.

Blizzard has already stated that after TBC, they'll launch a new expansion for WoW each year in succession. So for the next three years we'll have an Emerald Dream, Northrend, and Maelstrom expansion (the order: who knows?). It's possible they'll just make a big scene about which is coming in 2008.

historically, they have done every Blizzcon so far.
We need Starcraft 2!
Wikipedia is telling me that there was only one Blizzcon.
So, I mean, you're right, but...
CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH
oh dear i've wet my pants.
Really? I though this was at least the fourth one, never mind.
I think this was the joke.
But yes, this thread is not based on much.
I heard that, but I never saw an article or anything. I'm skeptical.
It's going to be tough to beat ProgressQuest.

Personally I want Diablo III I'm not big on RTS
I considered Ghost (the Game) dead and buried when I saw the Novelization.
(Similar to what happened with WarCraft Adventures)
