Two things to remember for gaining approval with Solas:

    1. Phrase everything as a question. It's not "Solas you are horrible and awful." It is "Solas why are you horrible and awful?"

    2. Ancient elves created literally everything and filthy human scum oppressed and appropriated their culture.

See 2 isn't even remotely true, if you listen to his banter.

Like one with Dorian is where he's all "I'm sorry Tevinter wrecked elven culture, it seems really neat!" and Solas is like "Man, elven culture was every bit as bad as any other culture that's ever been. You wanna be sorry about something, how about working on freeing those Tevinter slaves."

And that's why Solas is the best.

There's another banter with Dorian where Dorian mentions he's only seen Tevinter...ites? use the same sort of technique that Solas uses, and Solas is all "It is not a Tevinter technique it was created by elves." to which Dorian is like "Oh. So...that means...should we change the subject?" and Solas is just all "Yes."

And then if you pick Knight Enchanter as your spec and talk to him he's just like "Ancient Elves created Arcane Warriors. How do you think they would feel, seeing what their proud tradition has become?"

Yeah, but if you tell him you hope they'd be proud that their legacy persists or something like that, doesn't he agree? I don't remember that being a catty question.

You say wouldn't it be nice if all the ancient things got remembered, in one way or another, and kept being a part of our lives

and he goes ... yes, I guess so.

Not a bug. Your actions through the game supported Vivienne more than your war table mission supported Cassandra.

    Maybe?
Did you breach the topic of Viv becoming Divine with her? I got the impression that me suggesting it in the first place got her thinking she could do it; maybe she brings it up herself. Regardless, Vivienne is a much better player of The Game than Cassandra, so there may be some other factors involved (Friendship levels, quests/table missions done, etc.). I could see Vivienne beating the Inquisitor's suggestion... and actually her prowess at manipulation is the reason I chose her... Leliana had gone all murderpope crazy and I feared for Cass's life if I tapped her for the job.

Right, he's pointing out actual facts though, I don't see how that's saying "only elves are good"?

It would be like me pointing out that Esther Lederberg invented replica plating, even though her husband was the one who got the Nobel prize for it. I'm not saying women are better than men with that, I'm saying that in this situation, a woman was the inventor and didn't get credit for it, and that sucks.

    Emerald Knights:
Wasn't planning on giving it to the Chantry, but I saved and passed it their way to see what they'd offer. A note popped up about their version of the story, which was simply that an elf converted to Andrastianism and was persecuted by his fellows for it, the kind of persecution the Chantry stood against in commencing the Exalted March.

Okay, so that's stupid. Let's go see what the Dalish say, probably some dumb shit about how humans suck and glorious elven culture was ruined by quicklings. Oh, a thanks, and you want to send a halla to Red Crossing as a symbol of peace?

The Chantry: even worse than the Dalish.

Also whatever was causing Charging Bull to cost double stamina has gone away and I can sprint twice as long again, hooray.

If you're choosing between the garden and the Chantry, always choose the garden. The reward is hands-down better (an extra 4 herb pots), but the Chantry rewards are clearly bugged - it supposedly gives you tithes and extra War Table missions but they don't show up. Also, the Chantry option annoyingly adds a bunch of people to your castle who do nothing except repeat the Chant of the Maker over and over again. It's especially annoying because you hear/see it (via subtitles) every time you walk to the War Table.

I think the patch has broken multi a bit

I've had a half dozen games I've joined where I can't move or jump at all. If I toggle auto run then my character can move a little bit but no more than a couple feet in any direction from their starting point. Letting the group progress to the next section and teleport me just means I can't move from a different spot. Basically just incredibly frustrating.

The only person I had heard talk about spirits versus demons like that before was Anders, so Solas jumped on my extreme bad side as soon as he mentioned that.

I seem to recall Anders being super judgmental towards Merrill about dealing with spirits and blood magic, which is just, dude. It's like a raging nasty drunk alcoholic bitching about someone who drinks responsibly not being able to hold their liquor (say what you want about Merrill, she is never shown to lose control).

Anders never opted for anything like solas wants. Which I'm not 100% against given spirits are just reflections of the people they come into contact with, No wonder the only contact the people of thedas have with spirits is after they've been corrupted by them. Because the people of thedas aren't very decent people for the most part.

Anders tried what solas would of found...interesting only to fail miserably and then decided to spark a world spanning war coupled with a desire to suicide by templar/hawke/anyone nearby.

I've gotten special War Table missions ("bring the Chantry library to skyhold"), and I don't know if this is because I picked the Chantry or am just super pios, but I get special Judgement options related to religion.

Like what's-her-fuck, the chick that wanted to ice Celene? I sentenced her to a life of quiet introspection as a sister.

The consensus is that Walking Bomb is great, but the rest of the tree is buggy garbage. The fear spell is useful crowd control, but annoying, since you have to chase down the afear'd guys at the end.

I'm pretty sure that's just being pious, or just being human, because my "I was CHOSEN by Andraste!" human warrior got those options, but never built any skyhold upgrades.

Dorian's necromancy spells bugged out quest objectives more than once, because the enemies would revive as physical objects that would just stand around and never disappear.

    My least favorite bug:
Sutherland's company has gone missing, and the War Table mission to find him never showed up. Apparently, this bug happens when the that mission chain isn't pursued until near the endgame.

I was enjoying nurturing my company of adventurers, knowing that somewhere out there they were reliving the plot of Dragon Age 1 without me.

I wish I could export/copy a character to new game.

I played my Rogue as an Archer, but now I want to play the same character again as a Dagger rogue, with different party members, different world state, and make different choices.

I can get part way there by just reloading an early save, but then all the saves would mix together and I wouldn't get a different world state.

I spent a lot of time making my rogue look the way she does. *sigh*

I like the templar now that I have more offensive abilities, though I'm playing her for more offense than defense since the shield block move seems kind of poor most of the time (like I get that it can keep you alive but most of the time I can't seem to target it good/enemies hit me).

Still the Qunari charger is probably my favorite class, its great to barrel forward get a bunch of shield and then start annihilating enemies. Though he has boromirs disease where if you get surrounded by archers well nice knowing you.

You basically don't. The best ways to deal with that guy is to have a super tanky sword and board warrior that aggroes the shit out of the DC and leads it off to a quiet corner while the rest of the team deals with the adds. The sword and boarder can at least deal with the DC's bullshit without getting blown up thanks to their shield/guard generation and just running around like a crazy person. Meanwhile the rest of team deals with the adds asap. Alternatively, if you have an Arcane Warrior, Reaver, or someone else who can plug up a doorway and hold back all the adds, you can have them do exactly that while the rest of the team deals with the DC. I've done that second method a few times and it worked out ok but is obviously dependent on having a doorway you can plug up while the rest of the team curbstomps the DC in their now closed off room.

It's a shitty, buggy fight however you slice it though. Theoretically you should be able to sprint out of the way of his jack in the box bullshit but that only works like 33% of the time due to the DC hitting in a wider area than indicated. Could be bad netcode for the attack, could just be full on bugged and hitting in a wider area than it should, hell if I know. Either way it's just awful bullshit.

If your party wipes to demons, cycle the difficulty and it'll keep you from having to face demons again.

I finally crafted a suite of Tier 3 gear for my Inquisitor mage and it's made a world of difference. Not terribly min-maxed or anything, but all the gear is about 50-100% better than anything I was wearing before. I was winning fights before (maybe because of the stupid broken Knight Enchanter spec), but now everything just melts away. Tevelyan now has:

    - a staff that periodically heals him in combat
    - armor with very high fire resist, willpower, and magic
    - tons of crit chance and crit damage
    - very high armor and damage stats for level 21 (the highest I have seen in the game for a mage)
    - looks totally rad.

What I'm not totally clear on is how all the stats apply. For instance, does +Attack on a weapon increase all damage with that weapon, or just basic attacks? Same question for Willpower. I'm using Spirit Blade far more than I use basic attacks, so I wasn't sure how much those stats mattered in the grand scheme.

The thing that is always a bit frustrating about games like this is hoarding the crafting materials until the very end, and then only getting to use the really sweet shit for the last (relative) hours of the game. And of course having a limited supply of the best stuff, like dragon-acquired materials.
