    FAQ

When does the store usually update?
There's odd nights here and there (Mostly late ones of the odd updates), but for the most part, the US Store tends to update around 5-8 PM EST. And the PAL Store tends to update around 3 PM GMT.

Can I play all Minis on my PSP and PS3?
Most of them, yes, but not all of them. Tetris is probably the biggest example of this. (PSP-Only) It, like most things with PSN content is Developer-Reliant, so they have to make it work on both if they choose to do so.

What about PSOne Classics? What can I play them on?
Most of the PSOne Classics are compatible with PS3, PSP and Vita but it does vary with some games. The good news is that they're cross-platform, so any PS1 Classic you've bought can be played on any of your three systems, so long as they're compatible. You can also swap your saves between them.

Can I play PSOne games I have without buying them again?
Kind of. There is a PS3/PSP Connectivity function called Remote Play where you can play a PSOne Game from your PS3 on your PSP through the internet. It's not great, but it's workable. The PSOne game must be in the PS3 disk-tray to use Remote Play. Also note that some PSN games are also Remote Play compatible.

    What about PS2 Classics?
Currently, PS2 Classics will only run on the PS3. The only downside is that you can't use your old PS2 saves, they're saved to a separate location.

    What's "Cross-Buy"?
It's what Sony has labelled their 'buy one, get the other free' PS3/Vita game promotion. It works just as intended, you buy the game and get both the PS3 and Vita versions of it. Most of these games let you transfer your saves between both versions, so you can go back and forth between the two systems. Worth noting is that there are some retail games, such as Sly: Thieves in Time, where only the PS3 version is Cross-Buy. This is because the Vita versions are sold at a lower price at retail, so only the higher priced version (the PS3 one) has the added extras.

    What's "Cross-Play"?
It's what Sony has labelled cross-platform online play between the PS3 and Vita. PS3 players can play online with Vita players and vice versa.

I thinking of using this sale to get either Demon Gaze or one of the Atelier games since I've never played those. I do love me some dungeon crawlers, so I know that might be a safe purchase, but the Atelier games on the Vita look like they'd be super pretty on the OLED screen. Ayesha, Rorona and Meruru are all part of a trilogy, right? Is it a loose one where it would make more sense to just get the best game, or should I start with whatever the first one is?

Ayesha is in a different trilogy set to Rorona, Totori and Meruru.
The games are capable of working independently to each other however returning characters and references to prior events are best taken with having played the earlier games.

Rorona+ has the unique distinction of being the first and the last game of a quartet of three games. The post-game is intended to be played after Totori and Meruru. Just note that playing Totori after Meruru or Rorona+ will feel like a slight backwards step due it it being older mechanics but it's still perfectly good.

I got Shadow Warrior and I love it. The combat is fantastic.

Be warned: the game won't run for me unless I'm offline for some reason. Is also not the most mature game and I can't tell if its making fun of Asian stereotypes or just being a bit racist its self.

Idk if either of those are deal breakers but be warned that they exist.

My nephew is now at the perfect age to enjoy playing video-games and know what he's doing. Sorrt of. I already have the Wiiu covered with Mario Kart and Super Mario Galaxy 2 but I'm wondering if there's anything in particular in the ps4 that would be playable for him? He's 6yrs old btw.

Also if anyone knows a cheap place to get a controller in the uk, throw me hint eh. Those things are expensive!

Minecraft I believe is very popular among children if the PADLC podcast is to be believed. Geometry Wars 3 will teach him geometry (is what you tell his parents). If you don't mind navigating Japanese menus Puyo Puyo Tetris can be imported for less than $60 USD (see it for yourself).

EDIT: Costume Quest 2 is on sale for $3. Right now!

Bought Fez, Unfinished Swan and Strike Suit Zero, all for a little over 10$ so I'm pretty happy. Also, this may sound stupid, but the free game they are giving us for the PSN outage in 2011, how/when are we getting it? After I finished filling everything out, I got no instructions on how to redeem the game.

Unfinished Swan is worth 5 bucks. The mechanics actually change frequently enough to not get boring. And there's randomly voicework by
    Terry Gilliam
at the end of the game that even went under the press's radar.

Has anyone played OlliOlli? It looks like it would be fun for ten minutes then repetitive after that.

OlliOlli has pretty much endless appeal and an unlimited skill curve. 100% execution-driven. You can always get better at it. There's a daily challenge similar to Spelunky, where-in the entire community gets one ranked run on predetermined randomly-generated level (unlimited practice runs). I've probably played 50 hours trying to 100% the singleplayer stuff, and I still turn it on every now and then, for the daily challenge or to try and eek out another percentage of completion.

Be forewarned however, it might fuck up the rubberization on your DS4 thumbsticks, for the stick wiggling gets rather frantic. My sticks where fine for a year, and then I decided to give OlliOlli a go. I played most of it on my Vita and its tiny little sticks are perfect for it.

Well that's obnoxious. Just ran into the bug where stuff I bought is marked free instead of purchased on the web store, so I can't add stuff to my download queue from my browser.

Oh well. Snagged and OlliOlli, Costume Quest 2, Phantom Brave, and echochrome PSP for $16 total, so that's still excellent, but hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Between PS Plus and various sales over the last year or so, my PSN purchasing experience is starting to resemble my Steam purchasing experience. I already have Brothers, Resogun, The Unfinished Swan, Castle Crashers (on 360), Machinarium, Trine 2, Contrast, Guacamelee (original PS3 version), Joe Danger, Fez, Dead Nation, Super Stardust HD, Tokyo Jungle, Road Not Taken, Dungeon Defenders, Hoard, Inferno Pool, PixelJunk Monsters, Crash Commandos, Echochrome, Munch's Oddysee, Tomb Raider (PS3), Sleeping Dogs (PS3), Hitman: Absolution, Just Cause 2, FFV, FFVI, Hitman 2 HD, Hitman: Contracts HD, Deus Ex HR (not DC), Quantum Conundrum, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops: The Line, and XCOM.

I had a little over $15 in my wallet, so I bought OlliOlli, About a Blob, Costume Quest 2, Rollers of the Realm, and both DLC characters for Peggle 2. I was seriously considering Burial at Sea, but decided I'd rather get a few different indie things than one larger piece of DLC.

People who complain about consoles never having sales are crazy. I mean, sure, it's nowhere near the level of Steam sales, but come on.

Argh. My PS4 is unbearably, impossibly noisy when playing Last of Us Remastered, so I sent it in...a month later with my PS Plus subscription going to waste and my games depreciating in value, the console's back and...still unbearably noisy when playing that game. I guess I'll send it back in, and if they don't fix it still I'll just cut my losses and sell the dang thing. Really regretting buying digital games for the most part.

This sounds like what happened to me ~2 weeks ago. When I called in for a fix they were quick to give me a refund but didn't seem to care about fixing the root problem. A couple days after the call I noticed that I was able to add the game to my cart again.

If you get to the same point and don't mind keeping the money in your PSN wallet I'd suggest accepting the refund to the wallet. I opted for the credit card option and am still waiting.

Re Vanquish: I haven't played it in a while, but I just remember it being badass. Sliding around blasting the shit outta mooks in slow mo, and then taking a smoke break behind cover while enemies shoot at you and blow chunks out of the cover. School me on Vanquish, because I couldn't get the hang of it. What's the point of being able to improve your weapons, if you lose those improvements when you try to replay a level?

The way to play Vanquish is to not play it like a Cover Shooter because it isn't one. Slide everywhere. Get in people's faces.
