I'm playing SMT4! And Solatorobo! And I keep putting off beating Tales of Eternia on the PSP because, as much as I like the story, I do not like the battle system.

I found Dragon Warrior VII in a box hidden away in my basement this morning. I don't know if I should sell it, give it away, or put it back where I found it. Playing it again is out of the question. I do not have the time to invest in that lol.
Also holy shit, next gen Dragon's Dogma? But ughh it looks like some kind of mmo. That's...beyond disappointing.
My biggest problem with FFXIV right now is that the story missions require instances and for me that means I have to sit in a queue for 30+ minutes. While there's plenty to do while waiting, it's really annoying and feels like something modern MMOs should have done away with.
However the game is very pretty and fun to play dress up in, and the quests are pretty cool. The combat is a notch below WoW's, however. Good animations, but a 2.5 GCD and significantly longer waiting on the server to update stuff. It's not uncommon to cancel a cast and wait nearly a second for the game to actually cancel it.

You just gotta find a decent free company of people to hang out with. Or play a tank or healer class, insta-queues like whoa
After wrapping up my FFVII episode, I was made aware of a few things:
1. It was utter hell being a teenager gamer in the 90's. Especially if you lived overseas.
2. I was apparently significantly more invested in the romantic plotline in that game compared to other players. The forum discussions and Tumblr posts seemed to occur afterward.
3. I have never had a legitimate discussion with someone who disliked the game or its characters for non-petty reasons.

It would make sense if Square's PS1 era games were heavily influenced by Evangelion. Eva finished broadcasting in March of '96, about 11 months before FF7 released and kicked off Square's PS1 renaissance.

Xenogears and to a lesser extent Chrono Cross were totally trying to ride the Eva hype train.

Both FFVII and Einhander have literal Evangelions in them. The former is an inanimate cameo and the latter is a boss.
And though nothing directly confirms this, the original concept of giving Tifa a scar as a result of a childhood accident could also have been inspired by one of Evangelion's principal characters.

4. GameFan Magazine must have been secretly paid by Sony or Square under the table, because they hyped the living shit out of that game.
5. At a certain point, almost every single Square game had a reference to Evangelion.
6. That entire opening sequence is still incredible and is among the biggest "eye opener" moments for budding videogame players.
