Just finished 6-5 first day in court.
Is there a reason why they didn't make that a seperate case from what's coming next?
I know that case distinctions are ultimately meaningless, but it ended with a verdict, the true killer being found, everything that typically defines an end-of-case.
Edit: Also I think I've paced myself to finish this game right as the DLC case comes out. Turnabout Time Traveller releases this Thursday, right?

Weeeeell, there is a reason why the two are connected. You'll see later.
On the other hand, they're not exactly any more connected than, say, cases 4 and 5 of Dual Destinies.
I've burned through all my penalties like three times in this first case
It's kinda bullshit
This is what happens when bunches of people said AA5 was too easy
You're going to get lots and lots of game overs in this one

Maybe it's because I played through the whole series again in prep for 6, so I'm in the Ace Attorney mindset, but I've found it about right in terms of difficulty.
Each trial day I get about 4-6 penalties, so by the end of the day I'm often hanging on by a thread, but still in there.
Except case 5 has been a right bastard so far, but I'm fine with that for the final case.

I usually do quick saves right before it asks me to pick one of three choices then I choose the wrong two, then reload my save and pick the right one.
Because making the wrong choices often leads to hilarious interactions.

Same, I think there were maybe only 2 times in the game where I was reduced to finding the right thing to do via process of elimination.
I do like the 'tasks checklist' and the characters telling you when they're done with an area; I remember in the first game, I spent a lot of time running around trying to find the one thing I'd missed in my investigations.
I finally finished Spirit of Justice and I'm not sure what to think. I found the whole of Khur'ain (especially its characters) a little too ridiculous in cases 1 and 3, but appreciated how everything came together in case 5.
I really liked that Apollo got a lot of focus in this game, but found his backstory a little hard to swallow (especially in how it contradicts the fourth game).
Pluses:
- No Wendy Oldbag/Larry Butz/etc.
- Ema, woo!
- So much Apollo, and an Apollo who really kicked ass in the 5th case
- The whole dynamic of the 5th case with regards to Phoenix and Apollo felt perfectly handled
- Good cameos of the best returning characters
- Recurring jokes still included, but kept to a strict minimum (ladder, panties)
- Background development for Apollo; even if it did come out of nowhere, I appreciated being able to delve into his character more
- I really liked Nahyuta; he had more bite than someone like Klavier, but also wasn't evil or ridiculous
- The witnesses were a rather likable bunch! Especially Sarge - but really, I liked them all.
- Holy shit, the soundtrack - so, so good.
- Character development for Rayfa and Ahlbi
Minuses:
Spoilers for case 5:
- Ga'ran's transformation into prosecutor. So OTT, and I had just been appreciating how the villains had been a little more subdued this time around.
- Maya being accused of murder AND being kidnapped again
- Certain parts of Apollo's backstory
I know there were more things I disliked, but I'm still riding the high of finishing the game...

SoJ Case 3
Bugger off, game, I totally figured out the first lantern contradiction, but the correct window to point it out was too small.
Also, I think there's going to be a lot of nightmares from this case, the mask of Kee'ra as the victim is stabbed and the widow with the rotating pictures creeps me out big time.

Finished Spirit of Justice, it was pretty good (full game spoilers)
Trucy had more material to work with this time around (Mr. Hat returns!), though I wish they'd stop bringing back the magic panties
I know a lot of folks didn't like case 4, but I enjoyed seeing Athena and Blackquill bounce off each other on the defense, plus Blackquill got to clown on Nahyuta
Nahyuta is definitely in the Franziska tier of prosecutors. I spent most of the game wanting to dump a beer on his head, and then in the final case they expect me to buy into a redemption arc?
At least case 5 has Rita Repulsa show up on the prosecutor bench to spice things up
The DLC case is also worth picking up if you haven't done so, the Asinine Attorney DLC is funny but skippable at $4 each (though half of that goes to themes, if anyone cares about those)
Now that I think about it, the DLC cases have all been really good (I consider 1-5 to be DLC)
Yeah, he's pretty solid. He's got some great animations, too.
Case 3
I was going though the motions with this case, defending Maya again yeah, what's new, but the revelation of how Apollo, Nahyuta and Dhurke are related catapulted my interest back up. The notion of being found guilty and having to defend against a second murder charge is also interesting. I also have to give the game credit, I've been a few/several steps ahead of certain twists in this case, but it's still thrown out some curve-balls.

SoJ Case 3
Alright, game, you got me. I was so sure that Behl'eeb was the killer and that I was going to see a breakdown with those funeral portraits, but it turns out that the people who write murder mysteries for a living know how to writer surprising murder mysteries. Good ending to the case as well, stuff is certainly going to go down.
Case 4
Huh, I didn't expect to see Blackquill again, but he's a cool mentor/sidekick. And hell yeah, 2016 Courtroom Revolutionnaire! Still my favourite Objection theme.
Apollo's the rebel leader's son AND Sadhmadi's brother?
the anime, she is too thick
I'm a bit conflicted on this. One one hand, yes, it's contrived to hell and back. On the other hand, the payoff if you're willing to overlook the contrivance is worth it. Really, it illustrates why foreshadowing is so important. If we had hints about Apollo's past in previous games, it would have come off a lot better.

thabkfully, they were able to make it just contrived and convenient, rather than an outright plot hole.

Well, not the ENTIRE game.
in general the games tell you in advance who the killer is in the first and MAYBE the second case

Remember that line that keeps getting repeated in 6-2, about how a particular magic act contains no "tricks or gimmicks"?

is this one of those "one day trial and we're out" deals or is there some meat to it?
