That's not even what this is about. They just feel threatened by SJWs getting into their games and changing them and messing with the holy sanctity of video games created in a vacuum and only for them and etc.

This same line of thinking is the best way to combat piracy, too. Just make your product really easy to obtain legally and suddenly people are much less inclined to go through all the extra effort to pirate it. Convenience wins out most of the time.
