Oh, did not know that. Welp, at least now I know. :)

When you arrive in the guild hall, most of the amenities will be to the south, including the gathering, scribing stations (bank access), and guild vendors.

Could one make a request to move the gathering "nodes" into an L-shape by the corner? So that one can simply stand in the middle and F them all? (Yes, I know, lazy me. But I had to try.)

is what I'm using now. There are some things you can change depending on what you have unlocked and available (pets can be swapped out to whatever you want). The biggest keys to this build are your knockbacks, stuns, and dazes. If you use the longbow #4 and knock someone back successfully, then hit them again with anything, they will be immobilized for 1 second. This happens for each shot for the next 5 seconds. So, if you rapid fire after you knock them back, you can really hurt your enemy's mobility and rack up a lot of damage on them (as buffed in the marksman line). This build is good for condition clears as you have 3 abilities that will clear 2 conditions each, 3 stun breaks, and in an emergency you can switch to druid form to clear 13 conditions all at once (though if you have that many on you in combat, you're probably dead before you finish the switch to druid). This build works great in PvE, sPvP, wuvwuv, etc. If you're going to stick to mostly pve, I'd say still go with the drake pets to soak up the hits for you. If anything gets close, just knock it back and melt it with the combo I mentioned earlier.

This looks very interesting! What gear do you use? Zerker?

You can really use whatever you want (power base wise), but I would recommend a mix of gear between knights, zerker, and whatever else (I use celestial sometimes to balance some stats). On my current set, I use knights, zerker, and a couple pieces of soldiers to get some health and toughness in. You really want a high crit chance to be able to bring down your targets quickly. In that regard, I'm a big fan of the lifesteal procs (self heal plus you're hurting the target that much more) on crit from Sigil of Blood and Mixed Berry pies. They nerfed the effects of these a little bit, but they're still pretty powerful (they use to scale unbelievably well with your power stat, it was fun).

WHO WANTS TO DO FRACTALS WITH ME

turns out I need an asston of Stabilizing Matrixes for H.O.P.E., but I'm only Fractal Level 40. I think I have enough AR to be able to do up to 60, so who wants to help me on the long march up there? Basically the thought is to do each fractal in order up through 60. Not all at once, naturally.

*e* On an unrelated note, I'm looking for a spot in the guild hall to turn into my personal apartment... the Library is nice but I envision it as more of a communal space, y'know? I just haven't found anywhere quite as cozy as the nook I found in Gilded Hollow. Like, a nice spot where I could make a makeshift bed...

Also man I wish there were food decorations we could put out. And open books. And all kinds of other clutter. I want to go full Skyrim on this place.

I've pugged my way up to master fractals but am missing some of the lower level ones so I'll help out. My play times are super weird many nights though or there are some nights like last night where I wasn't sober enough dodge cannon fire on Mai Trin.

There's a new WvW Reward Track Boost available to guilds in the tavern. In order to unlock this upgrade, we need the following:

    80 Saffron Stuffed Mushroom
    10 Bottle of Elonian Wine
    20 Potion of WvW Reward
    10 Empty Keg

If you have any of these items and would like to donate them, please do!

I took care of the kegs, and I'm about to craft I just crafted the mushrooms. A few people have tossed in potions, but we still need more and you can only get a few each day from WvW dailies. If you end up capping a Monument for an easy daily, take the potion from that and toss it in the Treasury so we can get this buff going! :)

    Edit: We're so close now!

Hmm, I think it's time to try the last 2 classes I've never touched: warrior and guardian. I've always stayed far away from melee/heavy armor types in my long MMO history, but I haven't played a Norn or Charr yet, either, so I guess it'd be a good time to try out those stories and see some new class mechanics. I'm just so used to standing far away and throwing stuff at bad guys.

Given how much of the guardian involves buffing allies and that only works when the guardian is close to those allies who are probably in melee, the DH would still have to be up close to avoid being a wasted party slot. Plus longbow isn't unlocked til 80 so one would have to spend time playing core guardian without that weapon.

So I finished the hunting journal part of Champawat (can never remember the other name). I have a few more items to collect, plus I missed getting some of the tiger dens for the mini, so still have stuff to do.

But I was looking at the requirements for The Hunt (to craft), and... I have to do WvWvW to get Memories of Battle for it? :-/

Worth noting that wing 3 doesn't take the "gatekeeper" approach with its encounter design, and the first encounter there is actually the easiest one by far. If folks are interested in that this weekend, let me know :)

They're only 5 silver each, so not exactly breaking the bank. Whatever you're doing now should probably suffice.

Find a group that designates itself a "training run".

You do not need ascended armor, because the difference between ascended and exotic is small. But you WILL be a drag on your group without ascended weapons and jewelry.

Here's what to do to get ready to raid:
    • Figure out what character(s) you might want to bring. Certain classes are more desirable than others. PS Warriors are always welcome, as are Tempests and Heralds. Viper Reaper is very good but also very expensive to gear. Healer druid is necessary but harder to play than some others. And every group needs a chronomancer, but the skill cap on that is pretty high.
    • Go to metabattle and learn the gear and spec and rotation for your class. Look specifically at builds listed as "raid" builds.
    • Gear your character in a minimum of correct-stat exotics and correct-stat ascended jewelry. Work on ascended weapons. Correct stats are more important than it being ascended!
    • Make sure you're using the correct runes and sigils! There are sometimes cheaper options but it pays to have the better ones, so work toward those when you can.
    • Spec your character appropriately, and practice your rotation in the raid lobby training area.
    • Acquire the appropriate consumables. Yes, these are expensive. No, they are not optional. Again, there are sometimes cheaper alternatives, but it pays to have the good stuff.
    • Find a group that is a training group. There are lots of these, so check the guild recruitment subreddit and the forums.
    • Watch videos and read the dulfy guides for whichever bosses your group is attempting. You want to know what to expect going in.

Yes, that's a long list. No, raiding is not cheap or easy. It requires preparation and dedication. If you show up to a raid with anything less than what I've described above, you are asking the people who DID do all that stuff to carry you and make up for your lack of preparation and dedication, and that's unfair to them. No one will blame you for lack of experience, but they WILL blame you for lack of effort. Make an effort and you'll be welcome in any training run.

I'm of the opinion that VG and Slothasor are the hardest fights, even with the new bosses. Tight damage checks, high movement, lots of mechanics for people to easily screw up and in Slothasor's case, interactive mechanics that place a lot of responsibility on every member of the group. The 1st and 2nd encounters in the new wing aren't as bad.

The 1st encounter is an escort quest. As long as you can keep mobs off of the NPC, and you have 3 people (or 1 Mesmer) with ley line gliding you should manage a clear within a few attempts. Just, uhh, don't let anything touch her because she has about 5 hits from a normal mob and 1 hit from the seeker mobs that aim straight for her before she dies and resets the whole sequence. EDIT: Also she's needy as fuck, if your group is too far from her or doesn't call her every few seconds expect her to just fall dead on the floor from a heart attack or something. If you've tried the Bandit Trio encounter in Wing 2, it's even easier than that - heck, there are dungeon paths that are tougher.

The 2nd encounter is more like Gorseval in that if you have enough damage you can outright skip some of his more chaotic mechanics, otherwise yeah he's probably pretty tough. I'd say he's somewhere between Gorseval and Matthias - high DPS trivializes the fight, but low DPS won't wipe you either.

If you beat the 2nd encounter the "Twisted Castle" sequence that follows is absolutely fantastic. There's probably nothing else in this raid that I'd rather take the entire guild to than that part - sadly we're past that part in mine this week :( if you see any groups attempting that part, see if you can join.

The 3rd encounter is pretty simple - lots of mechanics, but none are particularly punishing or difficult to master. My clear group had the basic gist of the fight down within approximately 3 attempts, but some buggy mechanics and people not knowing how to glide kept us from a kill. Of the 3 end-wing bosses it's probably the easiest. That said, EVERYONE needs ley line gliding here, no question - you will die within seconds if you don't.

EDIT 2: Summarizing that, hardest to easiest:

    1. Slothasor
    2. Vale Guardian
    3. Sabetha
    4. Gorseval with Updraft
    5. Wing 3 Fight 2 low DPS
    6. Matthias
    7. Wing 3 Fight 3
    8. Wing 3 Fight 2 high DPS
    9. Gorseval No Updraft
    10. Bandit Trio
    11. Wing 3 Fight 1

That's actually pretty exciting sounding. I wish they had made the other wings like that (easier encounter first, harder ones later). It would probably have made it easier to ease people into raiding and allow for more gearing up via raid rewards (magnetite shards are paltry but you DO eventually get enough of them for a couple pieces).

I'd be up for anything, whenever, just let me know.

Sinister trinkets are from doing the LS2 achievements, plenty of AP and stuff from there, but if you dont own LS2 you'll have to buy it to get the best trinkets. The best ascended amulet is from finishing the final act of HoT achievements. It gives you a neckpiece you can pick stats for, including viper's

I did pick up LS2 a little while back (High level fractals give a lot of gold when you successfully complete them) so I've started working my way through that. What I'm less sure of is how much of pain those achievements will be. I know that the meta for HoT's last chapter is a huge pain in the ass.

Viper's accessories are only available from magnetite shards. You can make due with Sinister from LS2 until you have enough shards, or you can craft exotic ones. Technically exotic Viper's is better than ascended Sinister, but people like me who already had ascended Sinister just kept it until we had enough for Viper's.

I still don't have the Viper's backpack, working on it. I'm making up for it with my rune set (there's multiple alternatives with varying degrees of condition duration, you can use better runes the more duration you get from other things).

I know I read something about there being a cap on condition duration but I wasn't sure if Viper armor + food hit it making Viper accessories less than ideal. Still, since my goal is tier 4 fractals I kind of need those AR slots in the accessories and don't see myself raiding enough to get accessories that way (though I'd be after the backpiece first anyway).

Yeah, I have a different setup and I think I'm at 50% total condition duration, but like 100% burning and 90% bleeding, which are the ones that matter. So yeah.

I have begun a great new project within the guild hall, oooh yes. Super collaborative block project! Near the mine is a series of blocks being lowered to sea level for transport. I have created a short jumping puzzle from sea level to the first block! I have made it reasonably tricky but not insurmountable. I would love if someone else were to extend it to the next block up, then hand off again to someone. Who will take on The Block?
    lvbfi5vc3bc7.jpg

Super bonus round! Somewhere within the guild hall, x marks the spot.....it's made of shatterer crystals, and the first post in the thread with a picture of it wins 5 yes 5 crystal lodestones. I will then remove the x when I get round to it, and possibly replace it elsewhere.

What is this thing that is happening here.

So I have a token to purchase a guild hall decoration. Either a wyvern trophy, vine wall, or charr copter. What do we already have and what do ya'll want?

We don't need more copters or wyvern trophies. Vine wall is the only one that we might want a lot of.

So I hear that someone may have an alt parked by the tiger den in Southsun Cove. Is this still true, and if so, when are you on so that I can teleport to you? :)

I know @Leandriell had her mesmer parked there for a while, I don't know if that's still the the case though.

My mes is still parked there, I can teleport you, so no need for Teleport To Friend ;) I'm on most nights 8-11pm UK.

    On an unrelated note...

Tav, Gold and I are very close to finishing Ad Infinitum, and going to attempt Mai Trin 100 on Wednesday. Anyone about with 150 AR care to join us?

(And legendary bow takes all the wood and leather EVER :( - currently on Pause with Ad Trinfinitum ;) )
