Very nice! Zelda often gets away with a low variety in their enemies in favor of heavy nostalgia, it would be awesome to see them do something like that.
Welp haven't posted here in a bit. Just been snapping pics of sketchbook stuffs on Instagram. I filled a small sketchbook recently while in NY, but it's all subway sketches of sleeping people- real skill building stuff I don't think anyone needs to see. BUT, here's a proper drawing I did over the past couple days that deserves a real post. Valkyrie- 11x14.
Love the bold colors you use, everything is so lively. I think the foot on the mustache man is maybe a little broken, but I can see the gesture you were going for
The lighting on this last one is striking, looking forward to seeing the progress on it.
@Iruka Thank you! @BrocksMullet Thank you! These three drawings are a finished series on their own- they were done as supplemental art for an album. @Prospicience Thank you, Pros! I did these a while ago and haven't done inking since- sort of had to run the other way after all that time with stark black. But posting them makes me want to go back and do some new ink handling ideas I had.
Here's a pirate in oils, 10x12, based on a Dean Cornwell charcoal drawing. Was trying to invent colors but have the crutch of an established drawing. Trying all sorts of different surfaces while I grapple with my paint consistency.
More pirates. Been doing one a day. I just... new stuff is hard. I think these all look like the kind of bad painting you'd see on an old heavy metal album. Not in my taste yet at all. But its getting better or smoother with each one which means I'm just in growing pains for now- and that I won't know how much I actually suck until I reach my first plateau. So that's what I'm pushing toward right now, just trying to get to that first plateau so I can evaluate how bad my position actually is then make some educated decisions on what foundations to return to.
