    i like doob, personally

I claimed Doobh for my twitch name

and since I'm generally embarrassed by my weird obsession with ireland when I was a younger adult, it's a good thing
might be time to start establishing the newer name on other fronts

Well I'm glad it didn't feel like that. I can recall a discussion where I was bitching about the US take on Irish culture and I thought I went too far and hurt your feelings. It's always bothered me.

I've heard you complain about in person - Dave was even there!

I don't disagree with you at this point, for the record

There's an Irish themed bar here that has IRA posters everywhere. And, boy, was I disgusted when I eventually did research on them.

see, that's not even how Dubh is pronounced (sounds closeish to 'Doov')

fun fact: I also didn't know how pronounce it when I picked it as my forum name
from the sounds of things, I should be glad I didn't pick a welsh word instead

Welsh is a wonderful language that is very, very hard to learn if you didn't grow up with it and has zero carryover to any other language that I'm aware of. Learning it also exclusively improves your ability to speak to people who speak perfect English anyway. There aren't any gaeltacht equivalents in Wales as far as I know.

Nicknames are generally fine, that's actually how Molly was born! It just turned out that I like Molly much more than Mallory.

I hope I'm not the only one who thought Mallory and Molly were two different people for a bit.

LGBT thread, I've had a rough couple months learning to cope with my changing identity, changing understanding of sexuality and changing relationship dynamics. I'm basically poly bi genderfluid now, I think, and feel guilty at times for not feeling like I can present how I want in such a way as to validate those emergent views of myself. It's been hard to learn the relationship dynamics of polyamorous relationships. It's been a lot happening all at once on top of moving to a new country for school and getting used to a new environment.

With all that said, I do think I've started to get to a better place and become a better person for looking at myself and who I am and what I want honestly, and I have this thread to thank for that in part too for giving me perspective. I haven't been posting or reading the forums much lately but I always enjoy returning here to keep up with what's important with all you fine folks who I cherish.

It also helps that I'm going to get to see Mara @Olorin this coming weekend. I genuinely enjoy sharing her love with others and am so happy to see how far she's come in even a year from when she started HRT. She is the best and looks even more beautiful in person.

I never saw Jupiter Ascending. I've never heard anything positive about it so I wanted to spare myself the heartbreak of another Matrix Reloaded. I guess I should check it out!

Is Sense8 coming back? I really want more Sense8.

In other trans media news, I just read that Modern Family is introducing a trans character played by an 8-year-old trans boy. I hope the kid and the writers knock it out of the park and it ends up being good representation.

Sense8 is coming back for a second season, yeah. A couple months ago it was said that we might see the first episode around Christmas as a preview, with the second season coming early next year.

So Sense8 is actually good then? When it first came out I saw a lot of mediocre reviews so it kinda fell off my radar.

It's basically a 12-episode origin story. Though if you're not into it by the end of Ep4, it's probably not for you.

Nothing happens in the first two episodes other than, essentially, character development. If it hasn't hooked you by the end of episode 3, you probably won't like it. I'd actually liken the beginning of the show to Strange Things, in that the first couple episodes are paced a bit oddly, but they have to be to set the stage for the rest of the show.

The premise and world they set up its very interesting, especially with the global nature of it. When it starts paying off it pays off very well. I love the fight and chase scenes.

I feel like it would make for a very cool tabletop RPG. A much more cooperative version of Everyone Is John.

it's pretty divisive, and it's messy and ambitious in the way that wachowski stuff often is

it's also a pretty unique show and I think it succeeds mostly at what it wants to do. the Netflix model is great for them and their overstuffed stories, I think

I say this a person who liked cloud atlas and found Jupiter ascending interminably half-assed yet delightfully juvenile
