Reading the BGG forums. It seems a common house rule is to disallow using wolf form to land in a port. That did seem a little powerful. I gather a drawback to Drac taking to sea is that he's vulnerable to hunters waiting at ports. Being able to wolf form past them expands the area hunters need to cover to crazy levels.
Another house rule I kinda find interesting is to force Drac to select his destination as soon he takes to sea.
May be kinda hard to do FtF but on forums, it would be easy.
Using wolf form to land doesn't even make sense to me. Like, if it takes an entire night to reach the port from a boat, why would i think a wolf could sail faster than a boat, so it would have enough time to traverse a road.
I don't think i would play this game again without a house rule for sailing though. Makes hunting really dull when you don't have any options to affect drac.
Sailing as is does seem pretty open to exploitation that I'm not sure the designers intended. Seems like it would be easy to time it so you could sail around, land to feed and plant vampires, then sail again to dodge hunters.
Another thing is that sea movement completely nullifies the movement bonus hunters get (rail) that's supposed to help them close the gap after they catch Drac's trail.
Now that we have experience, I would say never engage Drac at night unless it's at least 2 or more hunters all armed to the teeth.

Once I got enough from VH to sail around till next week, it was over.
Wouldn't mind a re-match playing as a Hunter.
