PokeVision
An online version of the maps that are circulating that will show you what Pokemon are around you in Go. I personally think the desktop clients all work better, but people really like Pokevision, so here we are.

With the exciting launch of Pokémon GO, there’s an overwhelming demand for new Pokémon Trainer Club accounts. Our team is hard at work improving the sign-up process. Until the work is complete, for a brief time, we’ll be limiting the number of new accounts that can be created simultaneously. If you’re unable to create an account at this time, please try again in an hour.
I just want to catch them all

also there are regularly 50-100 people milling about the park near the freshman dorms every night
So after work I walked around. First to the nearest gym, which was blue again by the time I got there. I boosted it a bit but noticed there must have been reds or yellows in the stalling cars nearby because the prestige kept dropping. I then proceeded up the street, visited like ten pokestops, then went to a red gym that was level 7. Spent some time chipping away at prestige, but there was way more to go before I left.
The key in this area is going to be the slightly out of the way gyms, instead of the one on the main street.
And then I got home, and a dratini was waiting for me in my kitchen.
So the translation of Pika-too's ability was updated from "Disguise" to "False Colours" which makes it less likely that it can take other forms, as was my initial hope. Still really cool concept and everyone's nicknames and preliminary artwork has already endeared him to me very much.
Also, since this is such a psychic heavy area, I'm looking for suggestions on pokemon with dark or ghost attacks that would either resist or be neutral to psychic hits. My best so far is a hypno with shadow ball as a secondary attack. Stupid dark types don't exist yet... And almost everything is half poison

So I don't have time to catch and level up a ton of pokemon in my area, but I do my best.
Got a Fearow up to like 450, and a couple of 300ish Venomoths. Blue has just been sweeping through my area (RED FOREVER).
I got this, I told myself. I'll wait until the kids on skateboards that roll through the park are asleep. I set out to conquer. Every blue gym is guarded by a minimum 800.
I slink away back home.

This is my first Pokemon videogame, and I've been totally hooked since Thursday night! 47 different kinds captured so far, and I love that there's a gym I can reach from my back patio. I've been to a bunch of gatherings already, and I constantly pull over when I'm on my way to/from places (grabbed a Dratini and Magmar yesterday!)

Type advantages really matter in battle.
bug beats psychic, and since they're using post gen 1 moves that should work as a real advantage instead of just being totally hypothetical
i'd send you one of the paras that infested the grocery store i went to earlier, but, y'know

So they're releasing an Amazon Exclusive double pack of Sun/Moon in a steel book case. I was considering getting it, but it's ten dollars or so more than just buying the two separately. Kinda dissapointing.

You can get a magneton though. Steel resists errything.

Aha! Thanks Day, and Munkus. Both are good suggestions. We get some paras here and I have one magnemite... I'll have to focus on finding more of both!

is magnemite/ton literally the only non-psychic that resists psychic in the gen 1 field

So with this big update they also fixed all the missing locations in the Austin area and now there is stuff near me! All the stuff!
There are a billion more gyms near me and if I lived in a different building of my apartment I would totally have a pokestop I can check from home.
There is nothing around me but pidgeys and ratatas.
THAT'S ALL THERE IS.
Nothing. Matters.

Catch all them pidgeys, evolve then transfer them (with a lucky egg if you've hit lvl 9 or 10 to get them) and level thine self up. Good Pokemon will come.
BugBoyboy.EXE has stopped functioning.only bugs remainRegistered Userregular
It took me 5 or 6 tries to get a name through. I mean, BugBoy is almost always taken before I get there (accept no substitutes, though!), but I tried a bunch of names I thought nobody but me would think of and they were all gone.
So I don't have time to catch and level up a ton of pokemon in my area, but I do my best.

If the gym just has the one 800 poke you could probably take it
You can bring 6 pokes to a fight against an enemy gym
You might lose a couple, but if you have potions that's no issue
I managed to get a signal at the park today so I captured one of the two gyms there. Meandered around for about half an hour and then headed home as it started to rain. Look down as I leave and saw someone had taken the gym back from me. So angry. I might be the only Mystic in this town.
Also, I saw so many cars, multiple times. Because there is a pokestop at the park as well.

i understand if you don't like some of the baby pokemon, that's fine. everyone has different taste
but munchlax is a precious, wonderful child and don't you dare insult him or suggest the world would be better without him
i wanna be there
.... into an Eevee.
But cause of the candies that drop from the egg also, it is now a Jolteon and all these blue water pokes are looking to get wrecked.
