There is a theater across the street from my office that has a pokestop, and it has an adjoining bus stop and coffee shop which means that it pretty much 24/7 has lures on it, so I can just leave my phone idling and collect all the pokeymans all the live long day.

I'm actually really loving the reciprocity aspect of Lures. One person drops a lure, and people congregate. When that one decays someone else drops a lure, people congregate, and so on, and so on.
It reminded me of something Extra Credits mentioned from a Korean MMO. People would pay real money to buy these 'party bomb' things that would explode with money and items for everyone but the person who dropped it. You'd think that was a bum deal but then other people would see the person getting praise and go buy one themselves, drop it, and pretty soon you had a massive congregation of people all buying and dropping these bombs to keep the party going.

The smaller the inner circle, the better. Confirmed by Niantic.
Great throw, as far as I can tell, is indicated by your aim. The closer to the center you get the point of impact, the better.
You can also wind up the ball by spinning it with your finger before throwing, that will cause it to fly in an arc. A successful catch like this nets you an additional 10 xp, but I don't know if it makes your catch attempt more successful.
When the ball lands inside the green circle, you get a throw bonus. You get a Nice Throw (10xp) if it's max size, a Great Throw (50xp) if it's about half size, and I imagine if you manage to bullseye the pokemon with the circle at its smallest you get a Perfect Throw that'll be worth like a billion xp.
The smaller the circle the more xp you'll get and the better the odds of catching but you don't get jack if it doesn't land inside the green circle.
You can also get a Curveball bonus for 10xp for spinning the ball around before / as you throw it, which will cause it to curve and increases your odds of catching, but the detection on this just plain doesn't work right.

Can confirm - I work at the UW but had been off for the past several days. Walking up the Ave today on my lunch break was fucking bonkers. At least two pokestops every block and lures popping up constantly. I just know I'm going to find myself staying for a few hours after work some day to wander the campus.
