Between Dubious Challenge, Lost Legacy, Midnight Oil and Madcap Experiment I feel like there's a real bumper crop of junk rares to pull in Kaladraft
The thing is: those other cards have at least OTHER applications. Not every card is for Limited and - as much as I wish it could be - I understand that.
Lost Legacy is clearly a Constructed card to get those Emrakuls.
Midnight Oil could have potential in a Hellbent Constructed deck in some format like Canadian Highlander or even Standard with Lupine Prototype and Madness schenanigans.
Madcap Experiment has Johnny written all over it. Get your Platinum Emperiim, etc.
That's all just part of set design. Hurts us limited players, but appealing to multiple audiences is something MTG has to do.
But Dubious Challenge is for no one and that's why I hate it

One of the guys at my store was really hyped for the paradoxical outcome + 0 drops combo deck
That didn't make me feel much better about the playset I opened
I love dubious chalange, its my favorite sort of card. Just making some weird janky combo deck from something that shouldnt work and getting a few wins is fun.
Prerelease with my two young charges was a blast, although none of us exactly wrapped ourselves in glory in the match wins department. Each of them won some games, though, and were good sports and loved the new cards. They each got some nice shinies, too like Skysovereign and Demon of Dark DesignsSchemes. I think the tourney magic seed has been planted in fertile ground with these two kids.
I'm pretty psyched to get my hands on some more Kaladesh limited when it comes to MTGO starting on 10/7 (even though I am guaranteed to lose a non-zero number of games to re-learning the interface after 5+ years of being away.) Back to waiting!

If you want I could loan you my Pauper deck until the set hits. It'll let you get some interface practice in for zero investment.
I had literal zero artifact destruction in my pool and nothing that could kill 5+ toughness so I basically just scooped to Panharmonicon and Skysovereign :rotate:

oh yeah, I also ended up trading the Depala I opened and the combustible gearhulk for an eldrazi mimic and a decimator of the provinces
I will not rest until I get that combo off

I actually only had one game out of two prereleases that had a board stalemate, and that's because the other guy was durdling putting counters on his stuff which was a strategy my deck couldn't beat. And very rarely did someone have a dead vehicle on board, it seems like most people got the memo you shouldn't be running more than like 3 in any given deck.

I didnt see that at all at my Prerelease. I think only one match in the entire store finished with a Draw. As for turns, 3 of the 4 rounds did have a match on turns, but its also a Prerelease. New cards, often less experienced players - remember Prereleases are the only Event some people actually go and play. Its also usually the first event for RETURNING players. I fully expect Prerelease Sealed to always be slower than regular Sealed.

Oh yeah, and one particularly fun round I had:
Game 1: He doesn't play a spell for the first three turns. I go Toolcraft Exemplar, Smuggler's Copter, Glintsleeve, uncontested ovalchase dragster smashing face.
Game 2: He pops a 6/6 out on turn 4 with Architect of the Untamed. Pops out another when I finally kill the first.
Game 3: Basically the same as the first game, but with a slightly worse curve on my part (still had an uncontested turn 4 ovalchase).
Would you guys say this set is more complicated or difficult in limited than average?
Hard to say until Ive DRAFTED the set a few times. Since draft gives you a lot more information about the set and how it plays. Ultimately, I suspect its less complicated than Elditch Moon was - but EMN was a complicated set full of synergies and information to track (delerium, etc) and decisions about Emerge... The biggest Complication to Kaladesh is Vehicles which add some on board complexity (can your opponent activate their Vehicle, what creatures can they use, how will activating your own leave you open for a crackback, etc). Four rounds isnt enough for me to say how much of an issue that is, but it IS all onboard.

I mean, I am planning on drafting this set. And I'm excited about it in general. I did the prerelease for Eldritch Moon and just decided that the set wasn't for me.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Speaking of Missing On Board Shenanigans here's the story of the my biggest punt of the night cause I didnt make sure to read the new cards.
So I was CRUSHING my opponent. I was just trouncing him with Smugglers Copter and Sky Skiff powered by Veteran Motorist and a 2/2 (the Mechanic that can bounce one of your permanents). Might have been a few other creatures out on my side. He had a Ballista Charger out, but I was keeping it mitigated by removing his creatures. I knocked him down to 2 life... then he played Cataclysmic Gearhulk. I paused...and choose to keep Copter and Motorist, completely forgetting about Ballista Chargers text box. Which is especially embarrassing since the +1/+1 didnt mean ANYTHING since Copter was straight lethal (I'd love to say I was thinking of Impeccable Timing and playing around that, but I wasn't. I was just being dumb). He immediately activated his Chargers, swung in, killed my Motorist and smashed me for 6. I draw and play Skysovereign. He thinks for a bit... and then uses the Gearhulk to power Ballista and smash me for another 6 (well, 7 with the ping), putting me to 2 and passes. I need a creature or Im DEAD, having utterly punted the game away. Im so angry at myself.
I hold me breath and draw my card. Eddytail Hawk! This time actually thinking of Impeccable, I move to Crew my Copter and go to crew Skysovereign with it (here, its important to to note I never gave my opponent a chance to respond. I was too excited and moving quickly so when he asks to back up to the initial activation its fine). He asks me to hold on a sec and we briefly call a judge to make sure the animation can be responded to and is not like Morph - it can be. He then, in response to the activation before Copter becomes a creature casts Acrobatic Manuver flickering his Gearhulk and drawing a card. I pause and realize how this is gonna work so I keep the Hawk and the Copter and sac Skysovereign. I take a deep breath and swing with Copter, praying that he was neither holding nor drew a Timing
He extends his hand and I almost fall out of my chair in relief.
He told me later he was indeed drawing to Timing, but needed to hit it off the Maneuver
So I won, but only just barely. READ THE CARDS KIDS. I woul dhave won two turns earlier and EASILY if I had just kept my stupid 2/2 instead of the Motorist
Granted we've only tested with draft Sims, but holy cow all, this set has so many draft routes and ridiculous cross synergies. Gonna be up there with ktkx3 as one of the best draft sets to date I think

I had one round go draw, and we didn't even start our third game of the round because it had taken 30 minutes to play.
I had a different round almost go to draw, but I finished it on my third or fourth turn after time was called.

It's an incredibly slow format, especially when you're playing with new players. I won't play sealed again.
It's a slow format unless you get energy aggro'd out by red/green, which happened to me twice yesterday*. Or if you get repeatedly slammed by a train that can be crewed by any random bear no matter how many you kill.
But yeah there are a lot of complex cards in the set — there are only five pure vanilla creatures, one in each color — and the choices they demand are not friendly to the inexperienced.
*One game literally went: turn one fetch a land and get two energy, turn two Longtusk Cub. The second match was similar, but the two-drop was Voltaic Brawler.

my pool for the prerelease had Dubious Challenge, Lost Legacy, Inventor's Fair, and Ghirapur Orrery
Inventors Fair? Lucky! I need two of those something FIERCE.
I had a panharmonicon.... And like, no etb effects.

he went 4-0
Sometimes it was the aggro deck I was used to but most of the time it was a really slow control deck that got beats in via vehicles
