I remember when Dave Lang was just a big funny dude and Iron Galaxy was the studio that made the gimmicky kick fighting dive game. It's great how well they have done.

Here's the thing about DiveKick. Yes, it's built around a gimmick. But it's not gimmicky. It's a legitimately well-made, strategic fighting game.
That's why it was successful. And probably a good part of the reason why they were entrusted with KI.
Oh right, I forgot about that. It wasn't my kind of game but I guess a lot of people enjoyed it. The contrast between how happy peppy anime it was with how brutally difficult the economic gameplay was made me give up pretty quickly.
