Bug Photo! Please help me identify!
Hello bug creepers, plz creep on picture and help me identify!
They are small, .25 to .5 inches, with a semi-triangular abdomen from above, striped kind of like a bee. They are suddenly everywhere in the central TX hill country. What are they?!

Let's see if the bugsperts agree...
It's abdomen looks relatively flat to me but maybe that's a local variation of hoverflies.
edit: nope seems that there's several hoverflies that fit that criterium.
One of the few good true flies (Diptera), adults are basically bees that dont make honey (but also dont sting), and in many species the larvae are predators of aphids and other pests.
