Firstly, there's the Transformers game for the PS2 (armada in the US), which is surprisingly good.
Other option that spirngs to mind is the classic beat-em-up One Must Fall 2097 for pc, which has been freeware for a while now. You'll need Dosbox to run it, though.

And yes, ZOE 2 is most worth your time.
Oh crap, forgot about Transformers.
I'll wait and see how the new one is first though. Sounds like it'll be good.

Early reports of the new one are.... mixed, particulalrly as regards controls.
Destructable 3d cities = good, but otherwise I'm not sure it'd have much over the armada game.
The Gundam games for PS2 that were released in the US were pretty good for the most part. Or at least the ones I played were. Gundam vs Zeta Gundam and then there was a fighting game that I'm failing to remember the name up. Those two are about as close as I can think of to ZoE style play and even then it's not very close ZoE is kind of it's own thing.
Front Mission 3 was excellent but it's a bit old (PS1). Front Mission 4 is good as well but it felt kind of shallow in comparison to 3. They're also both turn based strategy game so, well, yeah every different from ZoE.
Mechwarrior 4. Again, it's old but it's classic for giant robots. Also, fuck you Microsoft for not having MW5 out yet or even in development.
Steambot Chronicles. Not the same thing as ZoE at all (think steam powered Mechs that drive like tanks) but definately worth playing through.
One would also be wise to at least look into the Armored Core series. Of course, if you're more of a casual action guy, they might not appeal, as they're basically the Gran Turismo of giant robot games.
What was the name of that 360 game that looked like ZoE ripoff without the awesome stylish graphics? I wonder if there are any plans for it to come out here.
Omega Boost for the PSX is fun as hell, and no one ever really mentions it for some reason. It's straight up action with an agile flying mech that can blast shitloads of missiles everywhere (reminiscent of ZoE's laser missiles). I suggest Battle Engine Aquila as well. You can probably find it for $20 or less, and it's a unique and thoroughly enjoyable mech game where you alternate between a fairly slow moving ground mech or a jet with the press of a button.
Also, I second the Armored Core (Yalb's description of it as the Gran Turismo of mech games is accurate) and Robot Alchemic Drive (it's just awesome) suggestions.

Super Robot Wars will always be my favorite, its the only series where you can really have true anime style mech moves cause its in a prescripted turn based RPG setting
It's pretty decent if you can find it (old, old game with dated graphics, though). I played through it twice back in the day and enjoyed it thoroughly. If you've played Heavy Gear 1 at all, though, I'm going to warn you that HG2 is almost completely different. Not nearly as much customization, and the customization system they have makes very little sense. Also, the later levels get really hard really fast.
S.L.A.I has an incredibly ridiculous name, but it was pretty great fun. It's just a robot brawler, sort of Unreal Tournament with giant robots and a less robust multiplayer. You mostly fight against (ha) bots, but it is pretty dang fun when you get into the groove. Still haven't finished it, but I got at least 60-70 hours of entertainment ourt of it so far.

The Wii really does need some sort of giant lumbering mech game. The pointer/analog stick combination just seems like it would fit really well, especially if you're supposed to only be able to turn slowly.

You can thank me later.
I never asked for this!
I need that sound clip so badly.

Lost Planet has some pretty awesome mechs.

I keep saying this, but they really, really, really fucking need to make a Virutal On game for the Wii.
I swear. I fucking swear, if I ever hear anyone say this again I am going to fucking start murdering people.
Where Madness and the Fantasical Come to Play
I have it. It sucks, and doesn't really play like Virtual On. It's an action game instead of a fighting game.
This is your problem.
I can't see Virtual On on the wii. It doesn't make sense to me.
Xbox 360. With a Virtual Stick 360 controller. Orgasms x 100.
How is this a cop-out?
Yeah, I think it's less of a cop-out and more of the only reasonable response.
MechWarrior 3 was great, if you can stand an oldish game.

Voice acting aside, that game is awesome and I think everyone should own it.
At least I think they're robots.
