Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
In Spanish the word for year is año. The word for anus is ano. Last night I was at a fair and they were selling some books, one of which caught my eye cuz I thought it had a typo... I thought it read "Next Year".... turns out it said "Next Anus"
I picked it up and laughed "Hah! TYPO!!!".... wait.... wait... *looks at small print*

Wow.
That gives the phrase "Feliz ANO NOVO!" a whole new meaning.
I didn't apply for any scholorships so I don't know, but I am fairly certain that is not how it works.
EDIT: Except for perhaps "Huggy Bear's Fund For the Fine and Foxy."
Jesus no.
I mean, she's not sin-against-God bad or anything, but she's a long ways away from pulling off shit like that, no matter how desperate the representative may be.
Christ, that's ridiculous. The most my high school had given out for a scholarship was like $1000...and my town's full of rich bastards. I didn't get any scholarship thing from the school, unfortunately. I chalked this up, partially, to two of the art teachers absolutely hating me (they were horrible people though, haha...most students hated them)...but I think you had to kind of be "elected" by them before you were considered.
Oh well. 15K/year will be fine for me. Thank you, SCAD!
Speaking of which....I will be visiting there on May 11th-12, and flying back on the 13th! Yay yay!

Ohhh God, the stories I can tell of how my friends and I would fuck with peoples' heads on SCAD Visitation Day.
It's not even an official "Visitation Day" to me.
I'm going to have one of my friends show me around, as they've been going there for the past two years, and I'd feel much more comfy asking him questions and such.
Ahhh ok. They usually hold official visitation days in Spring and Fall where they waste a ton of school resources to bus around potential future students and their parents all damn day. It's particularly frustrating when your dorm happens to be located directly above the "demo dorm" they would use to showcase the living conditions of on-campus housing. Nothing like trying to get work done on midterms and having a bunch of loud, obnoxious, retarded parents right outside your door asking questions like "can my son have access to the kitchen??" or "how can I make sure girls won't visit his room??"
If your friend's a Sequential or Animation major, I might know him. lol

Nah, he's a Visual Effects major. There's one other person who I know personally who's going to SCAD...a girl from my high school...but I'm pretty sure she's taking Jewelry or something like that.
I asked him if he knew you, or Alduar. No such luck, apparently, heh.

goddamn, I'm just checking out the Facebook network. Safety been an issue lately? The more I hear about stuff happening around campus, the more I feel like I need to get myself a can of mace when I'm down there. D:
Downtown Savannah has ALWAYS been a safety issue. The school isn't exactly a gated community. The majority of stories you hear on the news (or circulated around via SCAD e-mail) are the ones about people who are stupid enough to walk alone after 9 pm down a street named after Martin Luther King.
Crap happens in any major city. It just happens to be that SCAD doesn't have an official "campus" like other schools, where all the buildings are within walking distance of each other. It's spread across the entire city, and as such you don't have the benefits of protection all the time. You have to be careful while getting from one place to another. Walk in groups in well-lit areas, take the SCAD bus when you can, and you'll be fine. You'll quickly hear from the students who have been here a while which areas are safer (or, specifically, where you should NEVER go).
Savannah's a strange place, though. Historic preservation has taken hold of a few places, so you can be walking down a street with rich, luxurious homes and gorgeous landscaping, and then cross into the ghetto just by walking to the next block. Then the block after that is another stretch of rich homes. It's so weird.
I just cleaned out my brother's room after about two years of not doing so. I found eight packages of bristol containing 25 sheets with one or two missing, four pounds of unused modeling clay, at least $500 worth of balsa wood, and five packages of unused Faber-Castell artist pens. I'm taking all of this except the balsa wood, seeing that they haven't touched the light of day for at least six months and he isn't aware of they're existence.

Make sure to replace them with your genetic filth.

I did sneeze in there without covering my mouth...D:
I think if you add some appropriate bold red text to the last frame, it may be handy for use in topics that are doomed to be locked, or just for pissing off noobs in general.
It might be that I've been up since 4:15, or that I worked an 8 hour shift after getting up so early, or it could be just that I'm generally a little fucked up... but that made me laugh way harder than I suspect is healthy!
I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm really digging that first clip. Its so fast, and raw and grainy. I've been getting back into experimental films lately. Case in point, I finally managed to find a copy of Tetsuo: the Iron Man a few days ago and watched it that night. Not at all what I was expecting based on the reviews I read, but I wasn't at all disappointed. It exceeded my expectations. The entire time I was watching it all what I could think was "this guy is the perfect fusion of Cronenberg, Lynch, and Svankmajer!" Then I read the biopic on Tsukamoto and saw that all three were his main inspirations for the film. It made me happy.
NIN is more of a one-man project than a group. All the studio recordings are done by Trent Reznor all by himself through his own vision rather than a contribution from many musicians. For the videos and live shows he hires musicians. If you like this stuff, definitely check out his early albums like Pretty Hate Machine, and The Downward Spiral. Year Zero's pretty impressive though, but it doesn't hold a candle to some of his earlier work.
Long distance runner, what you standin' there for?

Jaws-esque.
Actually, which film first used the "background moves away whilst subject moves closer" shot?
Thanks.
That's my brother in law sitting with me.
And trying to escape the terrarium through a 1/4 inch wide gap. (I think it's his new hobby).

Seriously, listen to this:

It's not a song, it's sort of a documentary of a mass bombing. It's fake obviously, but man is it executed so well.
I am picking this thing up ASAP.
It's that thing that shows up in the first video I posted. Creep city I still say.
