guys i've only watched the first episode of breaking bad
and this was because person of interest got super fucking boring
like ok cool samaritan sweet oh were still doing the boring episodic save random people thing? ok sure ok
person of interest pays dividends for sticking with it, but i also get not being someone who is into sticking with a show to wait for it to get better
but it is soooo gooooooood
i mean i'm like halfway done with the 2nd to last season
it's just so boring when they have this bigger overarching plot but maybe 2 or 3 episodes in the entire season are dedicated to it
other than that you have to watch all this episodic shit with maybe 5 minutes of the episode moving the larger plot
like once they introduce that shit, you kinda just stop caring about 'random fucko ceo guy may or may not be bad for maybe emebezzling something lets try to save him from getting killed or not who cares'
I understand not liking a show because you find the characters insufferable. With Breaking Bad, I understand that's pretty easy to do. They're all pretty horrible people.
But saying the show objectively sucks because it doesn't mesh with your personal experiences is... well, myopic as hell. And pretty closed-minded.
That's an entirely overboard accusation and a big mischaracterization of "I did not find the characters believable"
which was all pony said, except with more words and linebreaks because pony
He said they don't act like people, like flat out. That people do not act like that.
I'm here to tell you... oh boy, yeah they do.
that is the precise definition of not finding the characters believable
No, that's him saying that nobody in the world acts like that, not that he finds nobody acts like that.
Big... big difference.

It's funny The Expanse is a sci-fi show but the way they portray their characters is quite human.
It's actually one of the things I like about it.
If you notice, it's also a thing people praise Game of Thrones for
Like yeah it's got zombies and dragons and shit like that but it also has petty politics and backstabbing and people being dickheads for selfish, relatable reasons.
One of the reasons I've never been a huge fan of "high fantasy" like Lord of the Rings is because characters don't act like people. They act like legends. Like Biblical characters or Platonic ideals. In Tolkien's case this was intentional, in the case of a lot of other "high fantasy" it's just because they're trying to ape Tolkien and/or they're bad at writing people who act like people (RA Salvatore I am scowling in your direction).
Early TNG has a bit of this too, the characters are inordinately stiff and weird and unpersonlike, largely because Gene had these ideas about what future-people were like so again, it was an intentional affectation. But it also meant, for example, there were no interpersonal conflicts on the Enterprise because Gene believed those weren't a thing in the future? Lmao
Later TNG and DS9 were better about this stuff.
I remember the tension between Sisko and Picard on the crossover episode and thought that was a lot different then what we were used to with Star Trek. It made total sense but I was surprised to see it on the show.

I loved discovering the background story to the game. Everything about the Zero Dawn solution is . When I finally discovered what it was all about and how they planned on "saving" the world... And the interviews with the Alpha candidates, and what they decided to choose after the initial shock...
I mean, it obviously worked, because the story takes place afterwards, but still...
I also like that the back-up plan was a space launch, which failed (the Odyssey).
And Ted Faro. Jesus Christ.

but every house within an hour of civilization starts at like $400k
so cool I always wanted to pay two fucking grand a month for my mortgage :eh:
who are all these people pulling down 150k a year
like honestly the market doesn't even make sense... people are here working but they're not all making that much money
is everyone just house poor
scraping by paying 2/3rds of their income on rent or mortgage?
I don't get it either here
Every new house costs $400K-$800K
I make good money and I couldn't afford that kind of house with a partner who made the same
This is what's angering me in my city. We have 2 new developments on my block and I know the base cost of them will be in the 600k range and Bothell is not a city where that kind of income level is the average. So they are building houses for people who wouldn't want to live there. It's maddening.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

what do you consider 'hour within civilization'
like are you set on the north side?
my sister is a Realtor mostly focusing on the south seattle/tacoma area and i constantly see nice looking houses for like 350
but yeah i guess 400 is probably more common
I work in in north redmond so south end is right out
and honestly even 350 is pushing it pretty far
man I wonder how much our shit shit shit traffic and lack of public transit effects things
like, people's jobs are all over the place, but nobody wants to live very far (geographically) from their job because even a 10 mile commute is an hour
so like, there's isn't as much of a gradient of desirable->undesirable locations, every spot is super desirable
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

Deli made American cheese is cheese in the way that Mozzarella is a Cheese. It's usually a blend of Mozz and soft cheddars. If you're talking kraft, then no, it's not.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

AH is that fucking american cheese on that spaghetti
but i didn't want to food shame you
but now i dunno maybe i should
What's wrong with american cheese?
nothing in the right applications
pasta not being one
Oh, is american cheese a specific type of cheese? I thought maybe it was just any cheese made in america.
so it's one of those things where it's like... individually wrapped, I think, and where I'm honestly not sure if it could be legally called cheese in either of our countries

Tacoma is not an hour from Downtown Seattle. Which is the real problem, all the jobs are in Downtown.
I remember the tension between Sisko and Picard on the crossover episode and thought that was a lot different then what we were used to with Star Trek. It made total sense but I was surprised to see it on the show.
the second is pungent because of the amount of the first
maybe you're just a terrible person

So, like everyone else in that admin?
not american cheese, American cheese
it's a specific kind of cheese.

American cheese is a style of processed cheese product. Not just describing cheese made in America.
so it's one of those things where it's like... individually wrapped, I think, and where I'm honestly not sure if it could be legally called cheese in either of our countries
that's not so bad
it's good when you need a melty cheese-like thing
It's called "cheesefood"
it is and it could not as it is mostly oil
