TV Issue

I have a Hatachi TV that is about 5 years old...it's a tube TV, of course...32 inches. This morning I turned it on to check the news and there was no picture. There's about 2 seconds of sound (blank screen) and then the TV shuts off. If I try to turn it on again it won't. However, if I unplug it and let it sit for 5 minutes I can plug it in and it will turn on (same blank screen with 2 seconds of sound before cutting off).

Any clue what's wrong with it?

Am I screwed?

Is it time to buy a new TV?
