Also, whats his obsession with people cheating on loved ones? Half the comics are about adultery!

Kid drew a picture and threw it into a bottle, because he's a kid and that's what kid's do. Guy in the picture looks like one of the villagers, and the roof on the house looks like their volcano, so they think it's a message from god to sacrifice him in the volcano.

The object of chess is to capture your enemy's king. This typically takes place over many moves with much cunning strategy. In the comic, the knight has simply shot the king with a handgun from across the board, whilst the bishop leans over with a beer in his hand. Thus, humour.

    Achewood makes no goddamn sense.

If all you ever see of it is random comics that people post, sure. A 5 second scene from the middle of any movie makes no sense out of context either.

If you read it from the beginning, it makes perfect sense.

The chess pieces, or "pieces", move from square to square on the board. They are not allowed to move off the board on onto the table, go around, and re-enter the board from the other side.

Indeed, the pic would make a lot more sense without the beer. It doesn't have anything to do with the joke, and just causes a "why is that there?" moment.

I figured it might also be a race joke with the white pieces being a bunch of hicks.
