I enjoyed it. I did nod off a bit halfway through the first act, but the second act was pretty awesome. I knew the synopsis beforehand though, and I think that lessened the effect it had on me. Loved the staging though. Badass transforming barricade prop.
My parents were pretty quick to dismiss the whole thing as socialist propoganda.
I saw this in the West End, while visiting London, during my two years in the UK...I had probably listened to the original cast recordings about 200 times.
I was so depressed when the production I saw sucked utter donkey dick.

Ha ha your parents are red staters.
My parents grew up in commie Russia.
Well, it's still red.
Yep.
Yep.
I'm going to see Coram Boy tonight.
I wanna see the play with Kevin Spacey too. He opened a theatre in the West End several years ago, and now took one of the productions on tour. The name escapes me at the moment.
Shakespeare requires a whole different skillset than most other stage acting. Most legit, professional stage actors won't perform it without training. Leaving most of what you'll see to rep companies and amateurs.
Which leads perhaps to the greatest irony of all: some of the best English-language plays being performed almost exclusively by those with the least ability to do so.
Oh God...I am all kinds of gayed up for Sweeney Todd.
We were singing "Popular" in the car the other day -- me, Christian, my mom and my friend Jason. Sara (Lynn, the one who posts here) was just like, ':o' cuz she didn't know it. 'Twas pretty entertaining.

The way it's staged is pretty funny.

We see each other plain
`M'sieur le Mayor,'
You'll wear a different chain!
The more I think about it, the more the first act seems weak in terms of performances.
(I also saw it in DC, but that's not as important)
