I saw Les Mis last night

I enjoyed it. I did nod off a bit halfway through the first act, but the second act was pretty awesome. I knew the synopsis beforehand though, and I think that lessened the effect it had on me. Loved the staging though. Badass transforming barricade prop.

My parents were pretty quick to dismiss the whole thing as socialist propoganda.

I could have seen this when i took French class in middle school.

I was like "no thanks, I'd rather play pokemon"

Too bad I don't have a DS or I'd be all over it again.

    The Jarvet suicide scene though?

The way it's staged is pretty funny.

    I thought.

I saw this in the West End, while visiting London, during my two years in the UK...I had probably listened to the original cast recordings about 200 times.

I was so depressed when the production I saw sucked utter donkey dick.

    Seriously.

    So shitty.

    Broadway for me.

The more I think about it, the more the first act seems weak in terms of performances.

    Yep.

    Yep.

I'm going to see Coram Boy tonight.

I wanna see the play with Kevin Spacey too. He opened a theatre in the West End several years ago, and now took one of the productions on tour. The name escapes me at the moment.

Les Mis is probably one of the only Musicals I'd ever go see. I'm just not a fan of the Genre.

I will watch pretty much any live Shakespeare I can get close to.

Which is a big mistake, since 95% of the Shakespeare you will see performed is total horseshit.

    Here's the thing.

Shakespeare requires a whole different skillset than most other stage acting. Most legit, professional stage actors won't perform it without training. Leaving most of what you'll see to rep companies and amateurs.

Which leads perhaps to the greatest irony of all: some of the best English-language plays being performed almost exclusively by those with the least ability to do so.
