Ultimate Iron Man is a decent story, and an all right comic book, but it is a poor Iron Man story.

But it's a good Ultimate Iron Man story.

No it isn't. It might have been a good What if Iron Man story but the Ultimate line was specifically made to do away with confusing and contradicting origins and backgrounds and Ultimate Iron Man doesn't jive at all with how Tony Stark was portrait in The Ultimates.

Yea, I haven't seen any connection at all between UIM and any of his other Ult appearences as far as I can tell. Like they put Ultimate on the title by accident.

I'm fairly sure that Tony has admitted in the Ultimates that he's dying from cancer, and that alchohol is the only thing that kills the pain. And that everything he does (fuck tons of chicks, fly around in a suit of armor, etc.) he does is because of the same reason.

Right, but that's awesome. How many people react to cancer news by going "Happy! Get the Battle-suit plans on my desk by noon, and bring me as many hookers as you can find!"

The brain thing never really rankled me much, but it is kind of a more hard-wired "out". No one has ever been in that situation before, so he's okay for doing something normally looked down on.

Mostly, I was annoyed that Ultimate Iron Man took so damn long to let him grow up. Fatty mc-nochin and his son? Not excellent villians.

Bendis has very few mistakes for how much he writes. The most glaring ones to me are the entirety of Secret War and his characterization of Emma Frost in New Avengers:

    emmawtf.jpg

Other than that, I enjoy most things he writes.

I liked it because it was less of Emma as the "OLOL NO ONES AS GOOD AS ME" attitude that makes me loathe her so much.
Seriously. We get it. You've got a stick up your ass. You're a telepath. Woo. You and like 400,000 other people in the Marvel universe. Cunt.

Yeah, Bendis doesn't really know how to write the Sentry or Ares or lots of characters very well lately. It just seems like that to me, anyway.

I mean, there you have Ares being portrayed as a dumb brute who's not very skilled in the arts of war. And there you have lady Ultron somehow punching the Sentry hard enough to draw blood. Or something. Power of a million exploding suns (not a thousand, by the way). Sigh.

He can slap a Herald of Galactus around with ease but needs help from Ms. goddamn Marvel and bloody Wonder Man to catch the Helicarrier

Does anyone see any silliness here

which herald did he slap around with ease? sorry but i haven't read that many stories involving the Sentry. just curious. thanks!
    Terrax.

Terrax really is most likely the weakest herald, especially if Annihilation is the gold standard for all things cosmic now.
In Annihilation Terrax broke a planet in half. That is hardly weak. I am struggling to think of times the other heralds have performed comparable feats.

There were these two beings as powerful as Galactus. Tenebrous and Aegis. You might have heard of them.

Silver Surfer killed both of them at the same time.

Leave it to DC to overpower their characters

Not to mention the fact that it was a joke and that I really don't give a shit towards either company, I just read DC books because I can't afford getting into Marvel.

But I forgot you know everyone so well, Muffin Man. I mean, you're the one that figured out that Jordyn loves to get hit on by all the internet boys.

Honestly, even the Deadpool-centric issues haven't been all that great lately. Deadpool v. Taskmaster? Mediocre, and it made Tasky look like a buffoon. Deadpool v. T Ray? Lame retcon of a retcon of a retcon of a storyline that appeared almost a decade ago. Deadpool v. a bunch of ghosts from his past? Okay. Deadpool v. Rhino? Underwhelming for how cool it should have been.

Actually, I think the book took a very steep and apparent nosedive in quality the moment Patrick Zircher left. It's like both the art and the plots just started to suck all of a sudden. It's still a pretty funny book, so I keep buying it, but the story's been kind of a mess for the last few arcs.
