Night Thrasher is basically a junior Batman, so I don't think it's that unlikely that he'd have devised some way to survive an explosion upon realizing that he was going to fight an exploding man.
And the fact that Nitro proved to be more powerful than usual would explain why Thrasher could only save himself.
But I don't think Marvel is going to bring him back so soon.

The way this series not only surpassed every other iteration of Marvel Zombies, but turned what I saw as a tired concept into one of most entertaining reads currently being published amazes me.

I just read a theory that I'd love to see play out.
Night Thrasher walked off into the sunset at the end of the New Warriors mini-series, feeling pretty disenfranchised with the whole superhero thing. Well who's to say that the network didn't stick some random kung-fu dude in the suit? This explains why A) Speedball was leading the Warriors in Civil War why Microbe would tell his pseudo father figure he looks like a fruit and C) why he'd basically be a douche concerned with having derogatory remarks about himself edited out of the show, rather than fighting supervillains.

aod vs mz is the current ash book. It's a direct continuation of aod which ended at #13 and when this arc is done it's coming back. At least as far as I am aware

He's pretty much perfect
