Starcraft sound on an Intel Mac

So I just re-bought the battle chest and installed SC and Brood War with the OS X installer, patched it following instructions from the blizzard website, but still there's no sound. I went through all the steps from the troubleshooting page on this problem (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=asc01656p) except for the "Disable Hardware acceleration," which doesn't appear on my game menu. Still no sound - any ideas, guys?
