Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Any suggestions?

I can't seem to find the free MMO thread anymore so I'm completely lost.

Every summer a couple of friends and I like to play some games together. Usually old and always free. We've just tired of playing Diablo 2 for the thousandth time and now we're looking for something else.

Basically what we're looking for is something like Everquest but with no monthly fee and free to download. We've been through Anarchy Online and Knight Online. We're just looking for some old MMO to sustain us until Hellgate: London comes out.

Does anyone here have any ideas on what we could do? My brother seems to think Everquest 1 is free now but I can't find any evidence to support that so I think he's wrong.

A bunch of folks around here sank a lot of time into Silkroad Online. AFAIK it's traditional and completely free.

Sorry, we've played that too. We've been through a lot of stuff. Silkroad was really, really grindy. K, I'm afraid there's nothing left for us.

    Diablo 2?

Yeah, you should play Diablo 2.

    Diablo 2 is awesome.

Seriously J not only are you a monumentally umpleasant person when you start uttering the nonsense that passes for philosophy in your mind (shame on whatever institution you graduated in, and shame on your tutors for creating such a monster), but your sense of humor, such as it is, is awful.

We've played Diablo 2 for the last month. We're tired of it. We need something we haven't played before.

I'm thinking something like Everquest or Final Fantasy 11.

    Is Everquest free now?

I seriously doubt it, considering they're still releasing expansions and have hundreds of thousands of players

Neverwinter Nights 2 has great single player, but can't say about multiplayer or player crafted dungeons much. It also is fairly hard on a computer.

Either that or Titan Quest is also good. Gets kind of boring after a while, but if you have a varied group you play with, as opposed to just singleplayer all the time, you should be fine before it gets too stale.

I'm installing Dungeon Runners right now.

The problem is exactly like y'all have seen. We've played pretty much everything.

Runescape. Knight Online. Anarchy Online. Diablo 2. Neverwinter Nights.

We've played a lotttttt of games. We're really just trying to waste time until Hellgate comes out.

Looks like it did. But I don't think it's free. I always wanted to play that game though.

    You aren't missing much.

You walk in a straight line and fight monsters along the path and after a few hours stop playing becuase you're just walking in a straight line killing monsters because "some evil" is at the end of the line.
