The people at the Lyric Opera have added me to the list of people participating in the fall auditions. They haven't picked a date for that yet, but there is a 98% chance that I'll have a job from that. Good times.
I also sent a request out for an application form from the San Diego Opera company. I'm hoping to send that in as soon as they give it to me (the deadline is next Saturday).

I've been hunting for a job for almost a year now. . . Just an hourly job at like minimum wage would make my day. I applied at just about everywhere, and got denied at them all. Had like 30 interviews and what not. I recently discovered that the company, Choicepoint, the people who check backgrounds, uses Equifax. Equifax seriously screwed me over, due to a typo on Equifax's end, some guy up in Anaheim was put down as MY SSN. So everytime I applied for a job I came up red when they checked my background; since there was another person on my number, security risk of course (I might be a terrorist or soemthing). But the long story short is; I've filed a lawsuit against Equifax for about $8000. Haven't heard from them yet, this all happened like a week a ago, but they'll more than likely settle for like 5k or something. . . I would have much rather had a job. . .
I'm currently working for a localisation company for a decent wage, yet I know I could get more working for another company. What seems like a straightforward decision is hampered by the fact that in the current company I am leading teams on projects, while in the slightly higher paying job I would be back to merely testing again, which was my job in the current company before som e promotion.
On top of this, my girlfriend is pregnant and we are expecting a child in December. All of a sudden, pensions and earnings seem a lot more important than before.
I'm internally debating this a lot at the moment. should I stay in the current, less wages job, with more authority and therefore better references for the future, or should I switch to another company which pays better, but for a more menial role which i had previously been promoted from. Keep in mind though, that if I were to leave the current company within the next few months, it would leave them up a certain creek without a certain implement.

I was actually looking into getting into photography myself. What kind of equipment do you use?
