Typically budgets look something like:
Income: some number of dollars coming in
Expenses:
Housing
Utilities
Food
Clothing
Entertainment
Savings
Housing expenses are either rent or mortgage payments.
Utilities includes cable, phone, insurance, gas, water, electric, trash. If you are renting some of these may be included as part of the rent.
Food is what you spend on groceries. Some include meals out in this category especially if you eat out for lunch most days.
Clothing is how much you expect to spend on new clothes each month.
Entertainment is everything that you spend that isn't in the above. Going out for dinner with friends, movies, etc.
Savings is what you are keeping to create a buffer against a rainy day or saving for the future.
