My iTunes keeps freezing up.

Recently, my iTunes has begun acting up. Almost everything I do within the program causes it to freeze, and show me that lovely little rainbow dial in place of the cursor. Whether it be altering the info on a song, or even repositioning the window itself, iTunes can't resist freezing up for about fifteen seconds or so. How can I figure out, and then fix whatever's wrong? I'm fairly certain I've got the most recent update of the program.
