I'm not taking too kindly on this Angelhedgie fellow trying to condemn my fellow tradesmen to the cold recesses of space

    Trade is always good

but to KILL A MAN OVER IT?

that sounds like the actions of a desperate criminal rather than a guildleader of a guild supposed to protect the common good

It is my opinion that The Buggy does not interfere with the trade or livelihood of any other ship. We do not drive prices up or down--no one else could possibly sell what we do, so our prices just are what they are. We simply cater to the most elite of the entire fleet. Most of the population does not know that we even exist because we are so far out of their league.

Your vote is misplaced, you would be wise to place it somewhere else (and you already grudge voted for me in the other Phalla!).
We offer extremely competitive business solutions; free tracking, guaranteed delivery schedules, and neat whiteboard drawings. Yet you persist in waving us off arrogantly because you believe the consumers should come to YOU for their products instead of the products going TO the consumers.

The latter reaches more customers, and you'd have to be a terrible tradesman to not see it. Unless...you're not REALLY a tradesman at all! O_o
    (this isn't a grudge vote, it's an anti-bad-business vote :P )

It seems that I have poorly represented the shipping procedures of The Buggy. Yes, it is true that we insist of the customer coming to The Buggy before purchasing an item, but considering the goods that we sell it is a necessity. We do not take returns, and considering the prices of everything we offer we must guarantee that the customer truly wishes to purchase the item before he does so. Once an item has been purchased not only do we offer free shipping, but we offer to ship the item at the very moment of the purchase, with The Buggy's own shipping ship often escorting the customer back to wherever they wish to unload the item.

    i just wanna 'be myself'

We're leaving it in your good hands to take care of the military crisis.

Over here, we're discussing our economic future; a vital building block to a stable civilization, which will be invaluable for our new colonies.

glad you came to your fiscal senses

    I mean

what am I supposed to do against anyone?

I could lead them over to a video wall and hope for a malfunction, sure

    but that's not practical

let the military worry about the ne'erdowells on the ship. I'll concern myself with the financial infrastructure of our futures

No...the Consortium learned the hard way that threats are not to be taken lightly. In some cases, threats can be handled in a...simple manner, with negotiation and diplomacy. Other threats...are not so simple.

My job, simply, is to make those threats....disappear.

Oh how quickly you guilds lose sight of the mission at hand.

Quit your petty quarreling and focus on what matters: the protection of our colonization interests. Humanity's last hope.

How can one properly help humanity when you look at eachother as rivals and look to point fingers?

It is the duty of the Diaspora guild to lead by example in upholding fair judgement and always acting in the interest of humanity as a whole.

  • AldoAldo Registered User regular
After listening to the backlogs of your quarrelling, I must note that certain Brothers of mine are very talkative and like to talk about trade. It is to be remembered that this is merely our area of interest and I want all of our fellow captains to remember the the Brotherhood's first and foremost concern is with the survival of the human race. Should we get an offer to choose between humanity and infinite wealth, we will side with our fellow humans.

After relistening to the voices of our fellow captains, I cannot help but note the very queer accent of Lignisse. Her grammar and pronunciation are ...off. By lack of any other leads: I, as captain of the Spaced Out Dutchman, !vote Lignisse.

Also: brothers, please check your inbox and remember that Gnasty went right ahead and voted for someone without consulting us. We must decide how to handle these voting-matters in a decent matter.

Greetings everyone, I seem to have wandered into an awkward conversation so let us change the subject shall we?
I've noticed people about video walls, those are so last-generation. I've developed a new technology that will make full room holo-projectors a reality, would any of the Brotherhood care to license this new tech from me?

    So what are the guilds?

    The Centauri - Researchers
    Brotherhood - Traders
    Consortium - Shipping
    Sensorium - Places of Vice
    Diaspora - ???
    Thousand Spears - ???

Anyone who would let their grudges take precedence in such dire straits cannot be trusted. Therefore, !Gnasty needs to be shown to an airlock sans normal suit.

I don't think the Precisonk Consortium would mind seeing Gnasty, head of a competing guild, put to hard vacuum much either.

As Lord God-Emperor of the Precisionk Consortium, I give this ruling my blessing.

Gnasty, looks like your ass is going to the airlock.

The Precisionk Consortium would like open its arms to the rest of the guilds, as I am a kind Emperor. We can safely guarantee your protection. All that we demand is your service in our fleet for life and your willingness to die for your Emperor.

See how our glorious leader demonstrates his beneficence and generosity! Many would kill to have a chance to swear their allegiance to Precisionk, but he has extended this offer to all of us here in the convoy for free!

I know I've already sworn time and time again my allegiance to the Precisionk Consortium, but every time I see our glorious leader I feel compelled to restate my oath as a testament to his greatness!

Precisionk! The crew of the Sky Runner shall follow you to the ends of the universe, and, if you so wish, plunge ourselves headfirst into the great void that lies beyond to advance your greatness!

Drawing attention to myself as usual by performing the first statistical analysis:

    50 Ships

    Guilds Membership Balance
    Brotherhood: 8
    Sensorium: 9
    Diaspora: 8
    PrecisionK : 8
    Centauri: 8
    Spears: 9

    Votes
There will be up to 57 votes tonight.

    Breakdown of Roles

    The following are guesstimates:

BAD GUYS - Count of 6/50 to 14/50
    2 Argosy (Mafia) - More likely 4-6
    2 Thompsonite (Mafia) - More likely 3-4
    2 Shan'ga (Mafia) - More likely 3-4

    NEUTRAL - Count of 3/50
    1 Denebrai (Trader?)
    2 Thralls

GOOD GUYS - Count of 10/50 to 13/50
1 Leshi (Good Special) - Possibly 2 Leshi
    2 Seers
    2 Vigilantes
    2 Guardians - More likely 3-5
    2 Geminids

    VILLAGERS - Count of 31/50 to 18/50

What does "Special Communication Traffic" mean? I seem to have missed the explanation in the TLDR (OMG amazing narration).

It's just another seering thing. Seers either examine a ship for aliens (medical scan) or specialness (communication traffic scan).

    Thanks, BB.

    Guilds

I'm going to guess, as others have before me, that the names are either significant or misleading, but here's what I suspect for what it's worth:

The Brotherhood of Tradesmen - Contains Geminids
    The Sensorium - Contains Seers
The Diaspora - Contains no Specials
The Precisionk Consortium - Contains no Specials
The Order of Centauri - Contains Guardians
The Thousand Spears - Contains Vigilantes

    Probably completely off-base, though.
Technically, I am; we no longer have any homes.

Praise be to the great leader, PrecisionK!

PS Am I gonna get "ganked" if I suggest that a Geminid step forward for a "Day 1 Reveal" to insta-network? I'm guessing that there is only ONE pair of Geminids, so if anyone challenges the "revealer", that means either of the two is a Geminid or a Thrall. Don't step forward until you feel that the following question has been properly satisfied.

QUESTION: If 2 pairs of Guardians guard a vessel, does that deflect TWO attacks?

I don't think what you suggest is even possible, given the Guardian rules that we have. From the OP:
Guardians can collectively protect one ship a night from one non-vote attack only.

I think there's one power to guard, and there's multiple ships who have to talk amongst themselves to decide who to save. In that way, they're another stonecutter group, if I'm reading the OP correctly.

TL;DR - My Guardian Speculation; basically it's either one or more groups of 2 or more ships. Wanted to know that if there are multiple guardian groups, if they can all guard the same guy against multiple attacks or if one group can guard the other group. I'm guessing that even if 2 guardian groups coordinated, based on the text and BB's explanation, they would still only be able to deflect one attack.

So what I'm asking is, IF there are multiple Guardian groups, and all (both?) groups choose to guard the same ship, does it defend against MULTIPLE private kill attempts?

    Good morning.

You seem to have already come to a conclusion, but to clarify a little about guardians:

    - Each group (assuming there are multiple groups) may defend one ship from one non-vote attack per night.
    - Guardians cannot guard themselves or each other. 'Each other' would refer to all putative guardian groups.
    - If multiple groups (assuming there are multiple groups) guard the same ship, each group protects that ship from one non-vote attack per night.
    - If one member of a guardian group dies, this has no effect on that group's power. They simply have to agree on their target (which is the point of the 'no split target' rule).

    Make your assumptions accordingly.

So if a Guardian group is whittled down to one member, that member still has full Guardian ability (as in, he absorbs the abilities of the dead members)?
