Yeah, all of this fits the fucking bill for a malpractice suit. If you were to pursue legal action, Munkus, you would win. You would absolutely fucking win.

As much as I loath people that sue doctors and have their dog-man/attorney on speed dial, I think it is safe to say that removing a major organ from your body is grounds for a lawsuit, especially considering the fact that not being able to digest gluten is probably a bit more common that your large intestine being a Nazi fifth columnist poised to take you down from the inside.
I'm just wondering how they could make this mistake if they did blood work and an endoscopy. It's not even like they're similar.
I can definitely understand it if Munkus was diagnosed a long time ago, which I'm pretty sure he was.
I was diagnosed 13 years ago and they really had no fucking idea what was going on.
They were just like "Hm it's probably this chron thing, here's 3 bottles of different pills, just keep taking them and see if they make you feel better. If you do then stop taking one and if you feel worse we'll know that one isn't helping"

There are tons of methods to check for coeliac disease. Even basic bloodwork would reveal folic acid levels and liver enzymes, and if they had even checked to see what would happen if he were to remove gluten from the diet and viewing the before and after pathology of coeliac disease would make it more than clear. The fact that such a permanent action was taken before even checking for such a condition is just incompetence.

nazi councilist, actually
(his colon had an alien symbiote melded with it)
Really though, I don't think anybody has said it yet munkus, but you should sue. My mom was misdiagnosed with "getting fat" (I shit you not) when she had a cyst. Caused a load of problems until it was discovered. We didn't sue with the rationalization that, since the cyst eventually was removed and the problem solved, we wouldn't win. But a cyst isn't a colon and not removing something that should be removed is pretty different than removing something that shouldn't be.
its alright you get used to it after a few years =( But not dying of cancer later = thumbs up
And also, beer is off limits (there are a few gluten free beers) BUT distilled alcohols are safe, as are wines.
He is reluctant to sue, probably even to take the first step and speak with a lawyer or firm, because he doesn't like all of the bullshit lawsuits that people do just to get rich.
Motherfucker they took out your motherfucking colon without checking to see if you had an easily identifiable disease first
When you sue, you can add legal fees to the number, so you don't need to worry about that.
Not usually. The reason you normally don't need to worry about legal fees is you can usually find a lawyer who'll take the case for a percentage of the money he gets from the doctor.

I don't think having celiac is the worst thing, here.
The worst thing is that no one tested for celiac, so instead they removed his fucking colon.

So when do we get the
"Munkus sued and is now a mega-millionaire" thread?
Can't really say anything too much that hasn't been said. This is a really horrid situation all around.
I'll toss my hat in the "legal action" corner. I'm completely against frivolous lawsuits but with this case it's pretty much your responsibility to keep such medical professionals in check so that such actions don't ever happen to anyone else, or are at least better regulated. The best course to make sure that happens is a legal suit, though that's been said ad-nauseum and we don't know really how you feel about such action yet. Just remember Munkus...

Right?
I think you mean liver
unless the colon is somehow involved in blood filtering that I am previously unaware of
your dad is a butt stealer is what he is!
butt stealer!
Quit being a fag about these things, Munkus.
Like maybe they killed his dad and married his mom.

I, uh, think he still has a butt.
If not, well, he's 1/3 less appealing to me.
He doesn't have a colon. So uh, anal might be complicated.
Munkus actually never had a butt. Dude is wire thin like Nads.
They took away what remained of his pride, though.
For shame, SE++.
Yeah, yeah, it was...
:sigh:
nevermind. =(
you guys have boobs, what the hell have we got
It didn't take 11 pages
All it took was Neville.
That'd be because of the celiac's disease

YOU ARE THE LAW!
you can be pretty sure any doc who knows about it will test for celiac's before scooping butts out with a melon baller
no diggity
i got to bag it up
Should have been a better person in a past life and that kind of balls.
In his past life, he stole a colon from some guy
