Although I managed to make my MySpace look halfway decent.

Your MySpace page has pretty much the best Muse quote ever on it. Seriously, that's got to be my favorite line from Starlight.

    Justice Update!

Apparently in LA County, breaking an unconstitutional law warrants a motherfucking $500 fine. Thankfully, this is my first offense, so I can take a four-hour "Curfew Education" class, and get my fine reduced to $135. Which really isn't so bad, but, goddamn. I mean, a fucking Minor In Possession charge is only $250!

Oh, LA County, will you ever cease to vex me so?

    Anime Update!

I stopped watching Death Note around ep. 20 because it was getting a bit slow and I figured I'd wait 'til it was over so I could binge on it, which I'm doing right now, starting from the beginning. It's so fucking re-watchable. It's really got to be one of the best television shows I've ever seen. Maybe flat out the best. Without a doubt it's definitely the best anime I've yet watched (which isn't saying a whole lot, uneducated noob that I am). It's flat out good, and it's also breaks with so much anime convention -- I mean, Yagami Light is pretty much the only character I've seen who doesn't fit into a standard anime hero archetype.

Also, I'm totally picking up a book to start learning Japanese tomorrow. I've already learned a phrase here or there, so I figure if I actually learned Japanese grammar and some basic verbs etc, I'd start picking up a hell of a lot more from all this japanamation that I'm watching. Any recommendations?

Nah, I've just seen the anime. When there's an anime of equal or greater quality as the manga, I generally skip the manga. It's one thing when it's a book vs. a visual medium, but since manga and anime are both visual, I really don't feel like I'm missing out, generally. I usually only read the manga if there's no good anime adaptation or if the manga is further ahead than the anime and I just need to know what happens. If I've read the manga, though, I'll still usually watch the anime, because I just love watching it come to life.

I assume watching the Death Note anime would be worthwhile -- everything about it is awesome.

hmmm, maybe i'll pick up the first volume. the only thing about the anime that sometimes turns me off is if the voices are different from what i imagined.

otherwise, i totally agree with you - if you've seen the anime, it's almost redundant to read the manga. im worried that it'll be the same vice versa though and i wont enjoy the anime because ive already read the comic and i know all the plot twists.

Man, so, my 360 won't read .avi files from a data disc? Balls.

So, what, do 360s only play .wmv files? Is that what they're saying?

And on a semi-related note, a letter to people who encode videos in .mkv format:

Dear Vile Creatures, wrought from darkness beyond human imagination, and forged in the fires of Hell itself, forever molesting souls of the innocent:

Kindly light your gentalia on fire.

    Your humble servant,

Consider Xbox is a microsoft product, I suppose it would support only .wmv

So how would I go about converting a .avi to a .wmv file?

Also, it's weird that it would only play .wmv files since WMP plays .avi files when it's on a computer...

*shrug* it's microsoft, did you honestly expect things to be logically sound?

I don't know how you can convert files from one format to another.

Darn. I want to watch certain videos, which may or may not have originated in Japan, on my TeeVee. However, I don't have a DVD burner (yes, my computer is that old), and I guess 360s only play .wmv files. I am a very sad panda.
