Vehicle Accidents... The noisy killer?

I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, and I think that saved my life.
I mean fuck... why bother? What's the worst that can happen? I'm already crippled and an injury didn't even do that. So what? Double-secret crippled? Fuck a bunch of seat belts.

You'll become so crippled you'll come out the other side of crippled to Super Human.
The lesson was to not cut the wheel quite as hard and I would have just dithed it and probably rolled once or twice, instead I actually launched like some retarded monkey out of a cannon.

I was ten, my grandmother was picking me up from school in her massive white car, and some jackhole ran right into us going through an intersection and caused us to spin out of control for...I don't know, 5 seconds? It felt a shit load longer.
Eventually we came to a stop...after smashing into a State Farm Insurance building.
About 100 yards further if my math holds true.

I'm so confused
it's against the law here, kinda.
if you're pulled over, or a cop happens to see you not wearing one, you'll be ticketed. But they aren't going to go out of thier way to do so.
It's a bullshit law to begin with, basicly there to improve revenue.

i love it

Huh? Wha? I thought it was there to keep people from getting killed.
But that doesn't make the odds that a seatbelt is more likely to save your ass than condemn you to death any less or greater.
it's a law because it allows the state the ability to tack it on to other tickets and charges. I don't need a ruling body to make decisions that effect me and me alone.
A kid in the car? sure, they should be belted. why? they aren't old enough to decide for themselves.
Me driving on my own? fuck you. I'll wear what I please. If I'm statisticly more likey to die or be injured, then thats my choice.

when i got home an hour ago i noticed some guy walking up my street, and when i stepped out a moment later to check the mail he was there and asked me if this is house number __, which it is
he asked if a relative of mine was home. this guy is an international student who lists my house as his permanent address because he rents and moves every now and then. so i told the guy that he doesnt live here anymore and is actually overseas for the next week or two
the guy at my mailbox then told me to pass on his phone number and such, because he works for a major tv station here and they are making a show called 'crash investigation unit' (another police reality show) and wants to talk to him about an earlier car accident
see a couple of months ago my relative was hanging out with a couple of his friends (2 brothers, both international students as well) as he often did. towards the end of the night when they were going home he was considering staying at their place for the night/weekend, as he had done a few times before, before deciding not to.
so they get into their old sporty car and drive off.
shortly afterwards, maybe a few hours later, my friend gets a phone call telling him that his friends are in hospital
i think they had been speeding down a main road, and somehow lost control, with the car skidding off the road up onto the sidewalk before smashing into a wall. the older brother was driving and i think was thrown from the car, while his younger brother remained inside for the full impact, and with no airbags was killed pretty much instantly i believe. the older brother was in critical condition for a while, anywhere between a few days and a few weeks
i didnt know the guys myself, but understandably my relative was real shook up about the whole thing and spent the next few weeks at the hospital with his friend, and his friends parents who had flown in from overseas because of the crash
whole thing was pretty bad to hear about, especially since he was pretty close to these guys and was the last person to see them before it happened. and thinking about how he had almost got into the car with them, and that the older brother basically killed his only brother and is gonna have to live with it for the rest of his life. im not sure exactly how it happened, but even if it wasnt really his fault but something like the brakes failed or he had to swerve to avoid something, that guilt would be one of the worst things
What if you're a passenger in the back seat? Should you be forced to wear a belt then?
I've been awake for like 23 hours.
My test is on monday.
Shit.
I guess it's not fair to blame the guy for the awful things that happened, but teenagers should not be driving speeding bullets. They can't even handle the small, slow ones correctly, why do they have heavy, expensive ones?
kids should be belted, regardless of seating.
adults? make your choice. regardless of seating.
I'm also not a huge fan of motorcycle helmets. Thank God IL is still a right to choose state and it isn't required. I don't care for being reprimanded for personal safety choices from a cop that eats fast food and smokes 2 packs a day.
yeah.
Good Job Government.
Way to keep us healthy and safe.
Fuck you.

stale if you dont have a seatbelt on its not just affecting you but all the other people on the road when you are launched out of the car and bounce off all the other cars just minding their own business like a bloody pinball
also go watch some crash tests and youll see why seatbelts are good
flipping a million times and crushing the roof into the seat may be a good time not to be attached to the seat but for a regular accident the difference might be more along the lines of slightly jerking forward while your seatbelt hold you back versus getting thrown forward through the windshield headfirst with one of your feet caught sideways in the steering wheel after a 30mph crash
So, passenger sat behind drivers seat, and is unbelted.
Driver is belted.
Front collision.
Seat belt saves drivers life.
Passenger thrown forward crushes driver to death.
Hardly a fair outcome
My mother was an EMT growing up. I've seen all the images.
I still don't give 2 shits. The odds of me being a projectile and injuring someone else are fucking astronomical. Can it happen? of course. Will it? The odds are so heavily against it that it's laughable. Has it happened before? Of course, theres millions of accidents worth of data.
I still don't care. I don't like wearing them. Not because I think they're deadly or I'm more likely to be injured. But simply because they aren't comfortable and I don't care for them. Thats my choice.

I have an mp3 player hooked into a cassette deck in my car, and nobody thinks twice about changing what I was listening to. Also, everyone seems to show me the street I'm supposed to be turning into the very second that it's viable to do so "THERE IT IS! you missed it" no shit genius
This is why I don't drive with other people.
People bother me.

That is my Hell.
