Help Re-Painting a Guitar w/ PICS

Hello fellows.

I was bored tonight, so I decided to take apart my guitar. I want to repaint it.

Any expert PA carpenters know the ropes? Do I sand it first?

Any color/scheme suggestions would be great. I'm thinking of a textured black, possibly with a splatter of something else....Eventually, I'll post the results!

Here is what I'm up against:

Paint it textured black, then get some of that steel diamond plate and fashion the pick guard out of that.

You need to scuff up the old paint for the new paint to adhere.

Thanks for the suggestions so far...I like the pickguard idea.

I just finished scuffing the guitar...

I'm thinking about getting a textured-stone spray paint. The kind I want is like the stuff at the link, only much blacker and speckled with a bit of white...

Yep! That's pretty similar to what I'm looking at.

My only concern is future modification...is that stuff difficult to sand off? Otherwise, I really think it'd make for a cool axe right now.

If it doesn't sand off, you could use a stripper. It shouldn't damage the wood.
