I'd like to note that even if the recording cost is too high for anything other than MIDI, as long as they have space the new GPO bundles have really, really, really, really, really, really, really impressive sounds, and I would be surprised if the OST doesn't make use of GPO and sound really close to actual orchestration.

The MIDI we're hearing here is less technically accomplished than SSBM, though.
The songs played so far are awesome enough. I've no doubt there will be some orchestrated tracks, but the MIDI in SSBM is good enough to not have me worried. I highly doubt that on day one you're going to take the game home and say, "Wait! This is MIDI! This game is crap!"
As for today's MIDI, fuck, it's Animal Crossing. It sounds exactly as it should.
I think Yoshi's FS is kinda weird. What game is that stuff from?
Certain colored Yoshis in Super Mario World had those powers. For example, Blue Yoshi, when eating a Turtle shell, could fly for a short period, while Red Yoshi, when eating a shell, could breathe fire when he spat the shell out.
I guess this FS assumes that Yoshi has all of those powers and mixes a bunch together for the purposes of having a powerful attack.

There was also a special Wing power up that you could only get when riding Yoshi

I managed to get the fireball pic, but can't find one of him flying or stomping...Anyway, here's what the fireballs looked like, with the middle one going straight out and the other two at 45 degrees up and down.

This melody reminds me that I hope Totaka's song finds it's way into this game somehow. It'd probably be something weird like "already be in battle for exactly 3 and a half minutes when K.K. shows up to play his song in Smashville" or something.

I really hope they don't ever put sonic in the game. The save Sonic thread made me realise how bloody awful sonic has become since the genesis days and including him here would only sully the whole experience with his Xtreme awfulness and disturbing furry undertones.
If they're going to put in another 3rd party character I say go Megaman. Make him as retro as possible and give his stage some music from megaman 2 and it would be awesome.
The way his sick twisted fanbase has tainted him is pretty sad really. But sega is equally to blame with all it's pandering to said fanbase with all the humans and animals mixing together and the bizarre character designs they've altered over the years.
Anyway, this isn't the place to debate Sonic, as he isn't in this game and hopefully won't be.
So how about that K.K. rider? Gotta love the K.K. vocals.

No, I can say this because I've listened to the Melee soundtrack just the other day. And this new stuff would fit in just fine.
Edit: Faustum, listen to it again. Fountain of Dreams sounds fantastic, but it's MIDI.
