Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
What is the PAX '07 Meme?
Posts
When people from the crowd said a few things and he looked at the crowd, he looked crazy like he was going to lose it. What finally ended the creepiness is when he said "oh ya I guess I haven't asked a question ... my mind is racing so fast I can't think." Then Tycho saved the day by asking to regroup and come back on the next panel and ask the question.
The whole thing lasted probably about 6 minutes, but it seemed like a long time. People who are paranoid are the scariest. He reminded me of someone who hears voices that tell them to do things. If that guy has done anything like that before, he needs some help before he hurts someone. He did not seem stable and capable of losing it.
Just saw you're post. Good luck to you and I'm glad to hear things went better after that.
I was having some schizoaffective symptoms.
But everyone supporting me made that go away.
So thanks everyone, especially Sealab folks.
And yeah, I feel alot better now.
PAX was a catalyst for my paranoia and my recovery, so um, yeah.
Thanks all.
P.S. IT BETTER BE ON YOUTUBE!
"Seaking!" <--> "Fuck yeah!"
". . . super effective!"
"Enforcers! What is your profession?!" "Harooh! Harooh! Harooh!"
<deadpan> "Lawl." </deadpan>
"Where is Shocker?" "Do you know where Shocker is?" etc.
"LOLdongs!" (not my personal favorite, but it was heard frequently.)

2.) The frag dolls started a top ramen war in the exhibitor hall.
3.) " Its the Final Countdown."
as if hearing it all day in the exhibitor hall sang by peeps on the karaoke game and rockband wasnt enough, freezepop sang it and there was a minute where the pc freeplay was lit up with the final countdown song being blasted....
(Be an Enforcer next year! It's awesome!)

what are the requirements? don't we have to be big, or something?
I pronounce it bee-log.
Quit posting Enforcer memes, you're confusing them.
"Enforcers! What is your profession!?"
Hoorah...

Perhaps:
"Hey! Where's the Bawls?"
or
"What?! No Bawls!?"
or
Hey! Free Bawls!

AH! $2.50 Bawls!?
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we got booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies
This is because people won't stop talking about it.

This is (probably) because it was something which was widely noticed by anyone who attended PAX '06.
;-]
Oh, no! Chicken and the egg, man! Whatever you do, don't divide by zero.
If being big is a requirement, Minja's totally out. Man, she'll be pissed.
Real requirements? They might change it up this year, who knows? Keep an eye out for the call for Enforcers. However, here's my requirements:
-Don't be a dick
-Be willing to show up early and stay late
-Caffiene IV a big plus
-Be attentive and caring
-LIVER OF STEEL.
-Willingness to make fun of Catboy's mom
-Loldongs
Wordy son-of-a-bitch stuff inside:
OK, sorry, seriously now:
This confuses vendors, exhibitors, and especially React AV employees and WSCTC employees. They are genuinely confused and amazed that we are so dedicated and that we care so much, despite not being paid. I think I understand why we do what we do, though.
First, we are not profit-motivated. Strictly speaking, I would have had at least 3x more "fun-activity time" if I had just been an attendee, and I would have saved money. To be an out-of-state Enforcer I had to spend at least an additional $150: I saved $50 for not having to pay for admission but spent $180 on four extra nights in a hotel room and at least $20 extra on food.
Second, we care about games and gamers and gaming. If you'll excuse some crummy pop-psychology, I feel validated -- I feel my hobby is more important and looked better upon by the world -- when more people enjoy it. I feel a weird kind of father-like instinct when I help pass the hobby on to others. I feel great personal satisfaction when I know I'm helping people enjoy themselves.
That is why, when it's 4 PM and I'm on three hours of sleep and my feet fucking hurt (because I'm rather overweight -- nobody's fault but my own) I still well up with joy when someone needs help finding a wireless lounge and I personally walk them there and they thank me. I tell myself I'm just doing my duty, and it feels really good.
Third, we are self-motivated professionals who take personal ownership of our tasks. This will come across as "I'm better than you because I've been a wage slave for more years" but I don't mean it this way: because we really care about seeing the con succeed, we truly care about doing our jobs as best we can. Frequently we will be given tasks where there's no clear path to success. If you're sent to ask a GreenCoat for something, and they tell you there aren't any, do you give up and go back to your manager and report failure? Or do you take it upon yourself to keep looking for other GreenCoats, ask about substitutes, and otherwise own that problem until it's solved? Enforcers own their tasks. We know what needs to be done because we understand why it needs to be done. We understand our boss's jobs, so we know how to work to help them succeed.
Fourth, we realize that without us, this con -- or even this kind of con -- cannot succeed. I believe if we left things to pure market forces alone, PAX would cease to exist. If everything was "just business", where the con sought purely to maximize profit, and each volunteer volunteered only because it was profitable to do so, PAX would collapse under its own weight. It would be too expensive to hire sufficiently many people and pay them enough to get the needed results. PAX understands it is here to "throw a giant party for all of its closest gamer friends." You don't throw a party for your friends because you want to take their money. Similarly, we Enforcers recognize and value that. The market would seek to punish PAX for failing to make money sufficiently quickly. We work to further PAX's cause, because we want PAX to survive.
We want next year's party to be even bigger and better than this year's party.
If that motivates you as much as it motivates us, JOIN USSSSSS.
Because seriously, on a scale from LOL to dongs, Enforcering is at least cooter.

1) Enforcers love PAX
2) Enforcers stick together
3) Enforcers rock
Is the basic gist.
And as far as being an Enforcer I have only 2 rules (personally)
1) Don't be a dick (to anyone)
2) Work hard
