Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

I like the chat thread because I like to chat, and it is full of people I know (because I read G&T) and I can use it in environments, like work or a web kiosk, where signing on to a IRC channel or vent server just isn't doable. It is also nice to have a meta-commentary of sorts on G&T-- for example since I've become a mod I've found a lot of the time that if there's something happening that requires mod attention but no mod has noticed, people will try to track a mod down in the chat thread.

The problems I have with the chat thread are that I worry some people see it as exclusionary to people who aren't in the "chat thread" clique, and I want to figure out how to fix that. I think people take it too seriously a lot of the time. We'll spend pages at a time with someone complaining they got jailed or something, and because the chat thread lacks a "topic" they can dominate the thread that way.

If the chat thread goes away, to me, personally, it'd be a big loss. I'd have a lot less of an impetus to post here. That might just be me, though, since I form attachments to weird things.

I mean, it'd be very difficult to argue that I didn't make friends specifically because of this thread.
I have that same issue, really. Many, many memories here.

I didn't post in the chat thread for quite a long time, so I guess losing it wouldn't really hurt me much.

That said, we still have no inkling as to what the problem is. "Weird vibe?" Yeah, that's nice and vague.

Man. It is a good thing I linked that instead of inlining the entire thing in the post itself, like I could have.

I honestly wouldnt care if we lost the ability to post images even 1k over 100k or even like, 75k if we got to keep the chat thread. The best part of the chat thread is well, the chatting. Its like mirc with avatars and sigs.

The chat thread, is awesome. It is the central of all the G&T as any interesing news makes it in, it is a nice enviroment to chat with others without going into say mirc, it saves room for people asking questsions iso they dont have to make a thread about it. Its probably the most fun in the G&T.
Well, sort of true. Some questions get lost in the 'maek psot' flood sometimes.
But then they usually quote themselves and they will get ackknowldgment. Yes, I cant spell.
It shouldn't have to be done that way though. In fact, it was never that way early on. The spamming is annoying. If you remember a couple of days ago Kilogre, I pointed out that there isn't as much conversation in here as there is just random shit.
Yeah sometimes the spam can outweigh conversation but alot of the time the spam will spark a conversation.
    It shouldn't have to.

And fucking hell people take a lot of things way to seriously.

D&D will enforce as neccessary if it is a problem I guess.

Okay, I take it back. The chat thread could do without times where people take up whole pages quoting random images.

But other than that, I see no reason to get rid of it. Frankly I don't see a reason to do so other than to screw with us.

mcc specificied a complaint about the chat thread being too exclusive - or, at least, people perceiving it that way.

It's going to happen with any group. If it goes away with a chat thread, it will just become more intensive with G&T. There will be people in Vent complaining about others. I mean, I completely understand what you're saying, but there's no way to actually regulate it.

Yeah, maybe cutting down the quote trees, like maybe having a max of 5 posts in teh quote tre,e just cut out the old ones, cause seriously thos get really annoying.

They were slow, but paced really well. Content to read, not "olol anus" and such.

It's like I said the other night. Ignore popularity and all that dumb shit and just take place in conversations, and enjoy them. Cliques are dumb.
