    The usual attention whore cycle goes like this.

    Someone who is or isn't an attention whore says something stupid.
    That forumer get a lot of flak, for it. It eventually goes overboard.
    Mods will make some effort to stamp it out, and the quality of posts of the forumer in question improves a bit.
    Forumer decides that he misses the attention, and tries to push the buttons he pushed (unintentionally or intentionally) before to get the attention back, and wallow in their persecution complex.
