Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
So I took a stroll to a nearby Electronics Frys store, and I noticed a new Nintendo DS game that I have not heard about. Which, as a game collector, is pretty rare. I noticed the spine art said "The Wild West", and I liked Sunsetriders and Gunsmoke, so I decided to take a look at the cover.
Wild West? More like FURRY West. Yes, that is a lizardman staring down a Wolf cowboy as they prepare to draw their guns.
I was about to toss the game back right then and there, but curiosity got the better of me, and I took a look at the back.
Wolfman Cowboy is hanging out in a bar, playing darts with his buddy Cheetah dude. He scores a wopping 456 so the bar tender treats him to two sticks of dynamite and a shotgun. He walks outside to discover that during his 3-day dart binge the town has been overrun by Lizard Men and 8 bit sprites. Happily, Wolfman Cowboy realizes that he has an infinite number of bullets and starts popping caps in their scaley asses.
He figures the Lizard Men must be hiding out in the old abandoned mine and decides to make his way there. Unfortunately Wolfman Cowboy is trapped inside a white circle, so it's up to his good friend Cheetah Dude to head to the mine and duke it out with the Bat People. Little does Wolfman Cowboy know, but Cheetah Dude is already at the docks killing many men, to the cries of "Lat si ma Cheetah dude!" from the Hungarian ship mates.
Then there's a robot...
..and another white circle.
I bet the white circle is to help you aim where to shoot with the stylus. Kind of like gun.smoke except you're aiming directly instead of telling which way to shoot your gun.

This looks like some newbie devs (who happened to be furries) got to have some fun rather than working on a shitty licence or what have you. Good for them but I'll hardly be rushing out to pick this up.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that Sid Meier's Pirates is one of the best games ever, and we've all been waiting for years to finally see a game where you get to be a pirate/cowboy wolf/cheetah who fights robots on horseback. (I'm assuming the piracy screenshots are soon to appear)...
The only way this game would be better is if instead of infinite bullets and no dynamite it was the other way around.
If you stay with the game long enough to collect bonus coins, you can unlock minigames and send them to friends via a local wireless connection: a good bonus, but probably not enough incentive to endure the rigors of the main game. [Oct 2007, p.89]
The game is set in a fictionalized version of the American West, circa 1840, where the characters are all anthropomorphized animals. Upon starting a new game, players choose between the two available characters: a wolf bounty hunter named Wolfy or a young cat girl named Catty. Both have personal vendettas against a criminal named Terano, and set off to take him out, with his massive criminal gang standing in their way.
The horseback sequences are reminiscent of scrolling shooters like Ikaruga or Radiant Silvergun, while the on-foot levels most closely resemble old-school action games like Commando or Soldiers of Fortune
Got this in a few weeks back. Oh my is it terrible. It's like some strange bastard child of Gunsmoke and Cabal..with furries...and lots of screen tapping. The game is really a mess, and while it has branching paths, it's really a taxing experience with little reward...unless you like more screen tapping.

That part kind of looks like Gun.Smoke.

Er...play it, I mean. I'd play it.
I pronounce it bee-log. Most recent entry: VIDEO GAMES: GUNPOINT, OR A SCIENTIFIC STUDY ON WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GLASS MEETS TROUSERS.
I constantly see shovelware I've never heard of on the shelves at stores in the DS games section.

I bought and loved Point Blank DS.
is that wrong?
Too bad all we have is Point Blank and Touch the Dead.
The former is good and the latter is... mediocre I suppose.

That looks like a bizarre version of Nam '75. In fact ALL the screens look like bizarre versions of arcade games.
Too bad they couldn't pull it off.

Seriously, it screams 'crap' by virtue of its first impression and nothing I've seen in this thread has persuaded me otherwise.
Did you lose a bet or something?
The fact that this gets funnier every time I read it indicates I need to sleep, badly.
Edit: Harrier, what is your avatar from?
They really let their imagination run wild when thinking up those names...
