So I have a RAR file that has several some what important pictures in it, however when I attempt to open it with winrar it fails the crc check. Does anyone know if you can bypass this somehow or recover the files?
That having been said, usually a CRC failure means the file is corrupt, and you probably won't be able to recover anything. There's no point in compressing e.g. JPGs with RAR anyway, because it won't be able to significantly reduce the size of them.
The CRC is the check that says "are all the bits here and in the order that they need to be for this file to contain what it claims to". If you fail that you're missing data or data is corrupt. It's very likely that it will be impossible to get anything useful out of that file.
