Project Exile has been in development for several years by indie developer Studio Archcraft. This Western-made JRPG was originally slated for the GBA, but has since moved over to the DS. The linked article does not mention the platform and the Graffiti Entertainment website makes no mention of the press release.
Good for them. I seriously expected never to hear about this game again.
Though it's really treading the line between homage and direct rip off.
Yeah I was surprised to see them, even on Joystiq. And I agree that it's a little too close to some classic SNES RPGs, visually. Like, "Gee this tile looks just like Chrono Trigger" close.
But still, I'm keeping an eye out for a GameStop or Amazon listing.

I saw this at Game|Life: http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/01/giant-list-time.html
"March 1: Project Exile from Graffiti Entertainment, LLC"
So hey, maybe it hasn't dropped off the face of the planet.
